It was the best movie I have evere seen! I have watched it at least 10 times. It never gets boring and the music is soo upbeat and fun. You fall head-over-heels for the bad boy Johnny, and you take a ride with Baby throught learning new things that are both hard and easy. It is an equsite masterpiece that will never be forgotten!

First I must say I am a huge movie fan.I have been watching and buying movies" now mostly dvds" for around 20 years.I first saw dirty dancing when I was around 17 years old.At first I was really skeptical about sitting through a so called " chick Flick".But as the movie got going I really found myself engrossed in the story line.I must say the most memorable line that sticks out in my head for some reason is the line " nobody puts baby in a corner".And who can forget the outstanding dance sequence at the end.Dirty dancing came out in the era of over indulgence in the time of big hair and overspending but is set in a more simpler time gone and almost forgotten. A plus all the way.

I fell head over heels in love with this movie after I first saw it when I was 10 years old. The storyline, music, and acting are wonderful. Nobody else could play Johnny like Patrick Swayze did. I have watched this movie so much that I know practically all the lines. You will want to watch this movie over and over again because you will love it that much. This is one of the best movie love stories.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. This was a wonderful movie about a young woman (played by Jennifer Grey) who learns the way of the world and has fun while learning to dance under the free spirit of Johnny Castle's character (played by Patrick Swayze). This movie really captured the natural dancing and acting talent that both Jennifer and Patrick have. I remember some time ago (it was either 2007 or 2008) when the E series channel featured a special on the characters from the "Dirty Dancing" movie. It mentioned about Jennifer Grey having had cosmetic surgery done. Admittedly, it is just my personal opinion but observing Jennifer's beauty in the movie made me think that it was unnecessary to alter her appearance. When I watched the movie I thought that she was naturally beautiful. Her and Patrick had strong chemistry on the screen as playing dancers who have a zest for life. This is a very fun dancing movie with many wonderful and uplifting songs such as "She's Like the Wind" (by the late great Patrick Swayze) and "Time of my life". Yes, this movie may be from the 80's but it is definitely a movie to watch and savor like you would your favorite popsicle that evokes good times and exciting times.

It was tough - in a good way - to watch this all the way through. Patrick Swayze exuded such vulnerability, and he had a great presence in this movie.
What a sorrow to have lost him.
Jennifer Grey was perfectly cast as the shy young girl, who learns to dance and falls in love with the Swayze character.
Great music, great dancing and an unforgettable film.

This is an amazing movie. I know that it is old but it is still amazing. I had seen it once before but had forgot about it, but then I saw it twice on ABC Family and I'll say that I'm hooked. I keep remembering parts of the movie and I hope that everyone that watches it and enjoys it as much as I did. Hope that everyone starts bringing back the classics. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey had great chemistry that just drew me in more and I hope you see it too.

I saw it for the first time when I was about 10 when my friend lent it to me. I watched it at least 10 times before I returned it.I loved the ending and all the dance scenes. I disliked the part where you heard her sister singing but the rest of the movie makes up for that.

For all of the movies that came out in the 1980's this is by far one of the best. Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze have great chemistry, the storyline is interesting and fun and really just wants to make you get up and dance. I saw this movie when I was five or six and I loved it! Still to this day I love this movie! Patrick Swayze was so hot in this movie! Definetly should be viewed!

'Dirty Dancing' is a coming of age fable, set in the Catskills. It's the film that made Patrick Swayze a household word, shot Jennifer Grey to the top of the world and had the entire country singing 'I've Had the Time of My Life'. The plot tells the story of Frances 'Baby' Houseman (Grey), a naive rich kid who goes slumming on the wrong side of the tracks with Johnny Castle, a poor dancer (Swayze) working off a debt as a dance instructor and sometimes gigolo. The wrinkle; Johnny's actually a great guy who¿s being used for his prowess both on and off the dance floor. Through Baby¿s eyes Johnny begins to believe in himself and the prospect of settling down into a life and love that is truly the time of both their lives. However, when Johnny¿s dance partner, Penny Johnson (Cynthia Rhodes) becomes pregnant, then suffers a botched abortion, Baby¿s father, Jake (Jerry Orbach) naturally assumes that Johnny was the father. The resulting animosity between Jake, his daughter and her boyfriend is, of course, eventually resolved in the film¿s climactic ending that erroneously supports the myth that true love conquers all. ¿Dirty Dancing¿ has been made available on DVD in three different transfers. The first two, film only and ¿collector¿s edition¿ were not anamorphically enhanced for widescreen televisions. The newly remastered ¿Ultimate Edition¿ exhibits a really solid, anamorphically enhanced video presentation. Colors are fully satruated, rich and vibrant. Fine detail is beautifully rendered. There's a hint of film grain detected, as well as edge enhancement and the ever so slight shimmer of fine details but these do not distract. The soundtrack has also been remastered and cleaned up. There are a lot of extras - but oddly enough, none of them include either interviews with Patrick Swayze, or other cast members speaking to his immense contributions on the film. It's like the movie happened without him! - Bizarre!!! There are two documentaries, one chiefly about the film¿s creation, the other a tribute to the camera work involved. There¿s also a teaser for ¿Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights¿ and a video version of the stage `sensation¿ that is genuinely dull and tacky. There¿s also some theatrical trailers and stills to go through.

I loved dirty dancing for so many reasons some of which include the great acting, the excellent plot lines, and the view on the world during the 1960's in america. I think the movie personafied the changing times of america and how that era effects us today. I also love the dances and that is why I am going to do the dances with my best friend in my high school cafeteria with a boombox starting with 'Nobody puts baby in the corner' to the lift.
