I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't too keen on the addition of Catherine Tate as the Doctor's newest companion. and while I am still not the biggest Donna Noble fan, I have to admit that Tate's acting and her chemistry with Tennant was much better than I expected. Of course, there are always one or two shows in a series that don't past muster, and no doubt in my mind that "Planet of the Ood" and "The Doctor's Daughter" were this series low points. But the series did get off to a great start with "Partners in Crime" followed by the terrific "Fires of Pompeii." The two-parter "The Sontaran Strategem" did bring back Martha Jones, but for me the story lacked a great deal. And although "The Unicorn and the Wasp" doesn't seem to have been a favorite, I loved its sense of comedy, and who can possibly resist an Agatha Christie mystery? And from the point on, the series went into overdrive - Moffat's "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead" was amazing, followed by the absolutely incredible "Midnight" (which begs the question of why Tennant hasn't won a BAFTA yet. His acting in this episode alone is worth the nomination). From there, we go to "Turn Left" with the return of Rose, followed by the series finale which brings together the Torchwood crew and Sarah Jane Smith in a universal battle against the Daleks. What a way to end the season!

As usual, Tennant's acting is beyond reproach. At times, he does have a tendency to get a bit carried away and giddy, but there's never a time he's on screen that you aren't carried away by his enthusiasm. Not only is his comedic timing incredible, but when it comes to the dramatic storyline ("Midnight") - he is truly amazing. Each year Tennant continues to mesmerize me - and with his departure next year, I don't know if my love of Who will translate to his replacement. But enjoy series 4 for what it is - fun, enjoyable, entertaining and worth watching time and time again.

By adding Donna Noble as companion to the Doctor, this was the best of the Doctor Who series.
The extra commentaries were informative and often times funny, especially when David Tennant was involved.

This series is by far my favorite (of the Russell T. Davies era). David Tennant plays a fantastic Doctor, of course. But Catherine Tate is absolutely wonderful as Donna Noble. Catherine and David play so well off each other, it really adds more to the dialogue. Donna is the perfect companion and the ending to this series always breaks my heart. The DVD packaging is exactly like those from Series 1-3, with an additional little booklet included.

My husband and I love the Doctor Who series and Season 4 is fantastic. Each episode is like a mini-sci-fi movie; the special effects and the storylines along with the acting is spectacular. I definitely recommend buying all of the Doctor Who Seasons 1 through 4. It is worth the money.

Like any TV series, they have their ups and downs, but not Doctor Who. Each episode brings with a thrill ride and suspence right down from Partners in Crime to the Journey's End. Like the other seasons, this one has a common theme: The Doctor Donna. But I won't reveal what that means. Also there is the enjoyment of seeing Martha Jones return and Rose Tyler. I will say that the final two episodes are my favorite. They tie up all the loose ups and even bring back some old friends. So please enjoy this Fouth series of Doctor Who because it is the last season with the tenth doctor David Tennant.

We have greatly enjoyed all of the "New Doctor" episodes--both David Tennant's and Christopher Eccleston's, but this season was the best so far. The relationship between the Doctor and Donna was much looser than with the other companions; the lack of romantic entanglement made things more relaxed and they were just so much fun. We really loved the way she was able to pick on him and boss him around while still being nervous and vulnerable as a normal human.
