    Great Service

The package arrived damaged. I relayed the message and a new dvd set was sent while I sent the damaged one back. I was not charged again and I didn't have to pay for shipping to return the item either. GREAT SERVICE!

    Fantastic

Being a Doctor Who fan I had to have the series. I have had to search and wait for it to be on sale because of my budget. I now will enjoy being able to watch and rewatch Dr. Who without commercials and the extras just make it even better

    Third Time is the Charm

I really enjoyed the Season 3 of Doctor Who. I especially enjoyed the season finale with John Barrowman from Torchwood. Each season of Doctor Who is unique and considering that this is an ongoing series, the storylines are fresh and fast-paced and the actors are superb!! Martha was a good companion to fill in after Rose who still remains my favorite.

Doctor Who, Same as it ever was

For season 3 we were introduced to a new companion, Martha Jones, and while I enjoyed her performances very much, the writing for her as another girl infatuated with the doctor felt a little trite. After having watched these three seasons now, I feel there is a trend for these seasons to have good and bad episodes. This season did feature some excellent episodes, Blink, 42, Gridlocked, were among my favorites and the family of blood two-parter really showed Tennant's acting chops. The daleks in Manhatten two parter was one of the worst I have ever experienced, terrible cliched characters, a premise that could have been good, but was ruined by a bad writing and lots of filler (should have been one episode). Even the reintroduction of the master felt too over the top to be taken seriously. All in all this is definetly worth watching if you are a lover of sci-fi, just don't take it too seriously, it's meant to be light-hearted and fun.

    Slightly Dissapointing But Still Good

Let me start out by saying that I killed this season for myself. Appearently looking at every single spoiler I could find online and off is not the best way to prepare for this show. Still I think this season wasn't as good as I expected. It felt to dark to me. I mean, I love upset just as much as the next person -- maybe more, but it's not that good unless it has some upbeat moments. The series wanted to take a more serious tone -- and it did, but maybe that's not the best way to approach this normaly bubbley show. Instead, I think sudden moments of darkness would work better. You don't notice the lights go out if you're already in the dark. On a lighter note, David Tennant is still brillant and Ageyman has some good moments. I think everyone loved "Blink" and "Runaway Bride" was darling. I mean come on, the worst of DW is better than the best of most!

    Doctor Who - Series 3

I hate to admit it, but my daughter got me in to Dr. Who. She left me the complete first series, with Christopher Eccleston, and suggested I watch it. I could not stop, and watched it in about two days. I became quite attached to Eccleston's portrayal of the Doctor. My daughter failed to tell me that he was going away after thirteen episodes, so I was quite crushed when this occurred. However, with the second season, I grew to like new Doctor David Tennant, and I loved Billie Piper's Rose. Once again, another season, and I had to part with a character for which I felt great affection. With this in mind, I was unsure how I would like Series Three-after all there were no remnants of that first season I had loved so much. However, I was pleasantly suprised. I really liked the Doctor's new companion, Martha Jones. She is clever, witty, and she has a nice, friendly chemistery with Tennant. I like that the Doctor has been altered by the loss of Rose. He still bounds into each situation with that same childlike enthusiasm of the previous season, but he seems more guarded and still smarting from her departure. Her name is brought up quite a lot in the first few episodes. His lonliness and feelings of isolation are more heavily emphasized, especially in regards to the series finale arc. The series begins its effective, darker turn with the two parter "Human Nature" and "Family of Blood", and it is in these episodes that I truly grew to love David Tennant. He is absolutely heartbreaking in this arc. The series continues its darker tone with "Blink", which was truly creepy, and the thee part series finale, which brings back and old adversary of the Doctor. While the last episode is the weakest of the series, especially when compared the emotional power of the previous seasons' finales, it still possessed moments of greatness and worked effectively. In short, give this box set and the Doctor's new companion a chance. It has some of the best episodes the newly revived series has yet created.

Good, just perhaps not as good...

After a stellar second season, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. This is no real fault of David Tennant who I still find to be adorable and endearing as the Doctor. It was Martha Jones that I felt to be a bit weak. I enjoyed that they made her character less like Rose, but the mistake was that they also made her fall head over heels in a matter of seconds. And she reminded us of it every second. We knew Rose loved the Doctor, but it wasn't so blatantly mentioned every episode. I was also disappointed that Martha's family didn't get more of a look. From the first ep they seemed an interesting sort. Then there's the drop in writing it would appear this season... THe Dalek two-parter was one of the worst in the history of Doctor Who, and many others were just blah. It's not surprising that my favourite episode was the Angels one, Martha was in about five seconds of it... That and Derek Jacobi's fantastic guest spot in one of the last episodes. All in all, it was good... but not as good as I had begun to expect.

    Doctor Who - Series 3

After an emotionally draining Second Series finale, Doctor Who continued to dazzle with a Christmas special that paid lovely tribute to the recently departed Rose, while reminding viewers, and the Doctor, that we have to move on. From the introduction of Martha Jones to the last episode, the loss of Rose gave way to a darker, and extremely satisifying, Series Three. Martha Jones proved herself to be an effective companion for the Doctor-writers made the wise decision of having her be as little like rose as possible. She is more analytical and sees all that Doctor shows her in a more rational, analytical light, as well. David Tennant continues to endear himself as The Doctor-I hope he stays around for some time. The highlight of the series is the two parter of "Human Nature" and "Family of Blood", which features some of Tennant's best work as the Doctor. When he conveys his despair at a situation he does not fully comprehend is truly heartbreaking and devestating. I know that sounds vague, but to discuss the episodes in more specific terms just wouldn't be fair to those who haven't seen them-they should be experienced with as little foreknowledge as possible. Other standout episodes include "42", a spoof of 24, "Blink", among the creepiest episodes the series has produced, and The Shakespeare Codes, which is great fun. While there are some weaker episodes, such as The Dalek two-parter and a season finale that can't help but feel anti-climactic after all that has transpired during the season, the third series is darker, and ultimately more satisifying than the incredibly well-done two seasons that preceeded it. I can't wait to further my collection with this DVD.

    A reviewer

I was disappointed to hear that Martha was leaving the show at the end of season 3. I thought she was an excellent character, that Ms. Ageyman was a very competent actress, and that she has a charming personality. Though she is not as "hot" as Billie Piper, I liked that about her. She's beautiful in a very real way. Leaving makes the most sense for the character, though. She's a smart cookie, not one to waste her time on a lost cause. Plus she needs to finish medical school. Human Nature was excellent, and Blink was actually quite scary (for a kids' show) I don't own the DVDs yet, but I do get the SciFi Channel which is where I saw the series. I own series one and two and intend to get 3 for Xmas.
