Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
Nickelodeon's empowering preschool series features plucky, bilingual heroine Dora who -- with a little help from best friend Boots the monkey, Map, Backpack, and viewers at home -- successfully completes a series of challenges. This set contains three volumes of episodes that rank among the series' most delightful and whimsical, Dora's Map Adventures, Rhymes and Riddles, and City of Lost Toys. In "Lost Map," Dora must make her own map to retrieve Map from the top of Tallest Mountain. In "Super Map," Map puts on a magic cape and uses his newfound super powers to help Dora find her way home, where a super surprise awaits her. In "Dora Had a Little Lamb," Dora and Boots enter the Big Book of Nursery Rhymes to help reunite a lost lamb with Mary. Along the way, they encounter such beloved characters as the mice that ran up the clock, Peter Piper, and the Itsy Bitsy Spider. In "Call Me Mr. Riddles," Dora and Boots must riddle their way across Troll Bridge and answer the call of Knock-Knock Door before they can proceed to Tall Mountain's Silliest Riddle contest. Map points Dora toward "The Lost City" to find her precious Teddy Bear. Map once again points to way to help Dora find Boots's "Lost Squeaky." In each episode, following directions and basic problem solving skills keep viewers focused on the task at hand. These learning adventures are further animated by Dora's enthusiasm and "We can do it" encouragement.
