Editorial Reviews

All Movie Guide
Police partners who find themselves on the opposite sides of the law, now where have we heard that before? But no matter, what Double Bang lacks in originality it makes up for with tense atmosphere and believable characters. William Baldwin, the best looking and slightly more talented of the Baldwin brothers (although Stephen Baldwin can often rip up the right part), does a good job up against the testosterone-driven performance of Adam Baldwin, who is not a Baldwin brother and is a better actor than all of them; his character's fall from grace, as he smells a very large, monthly payday, hits the nail. But Jon Seda, a young character actor who plays the godfather's nephew and proves to be the irritant to everyone on the side of the law, absolutely steals the show with an effortless, glib, evilly charming performance that is pitch perfect. His lines are so rich and evocative, and he recites them with such earnest aplomb, that you get the impression he's improvising all the way while everyone else is sticking to the often pedestrian script. He's like a Latino version of Cuba Gooding Jr., which is saying something. His performance is worth the price of the rental, and the movie ain't bad either.
