    Bloody good fun

This was Christopher Lee's third Hammer Dracula film and is probably the series' most vivid entry. Although the action is confined to a small Transylvanian village and the protagonists are callow youths, the movie achieves an exciting level of melodrama. Oscar-winning cinematographer Freddie Francis ('Sons and Lovers') is at the director's helm and shoots the film in bright colors and maintains a quick pace. Lee plays the Count as a vengeful monster who seems to be taking great pleasure in draining the local women. This film features more of the great James Bernard music that underscored the best films in the series, an attractive cast, and two of Hammer Film's most famous shots. So free up 90 minutes and settle-in for a bloody good time.
