This award-winning animated school readiness series from the creators of Sesame Street comes to DVD. Set in the magical, colorful world known as Dragon Land, these are the adventures of Emmy (age six) and her brother Max (age four), who face challenges together with their fantasy pals, gaining the basic wisdom of the ages. The five vignettes included here afford a sense of wonder ("Quetzal's Magic Pop-Up Book"); tantrum tempering ("The Fury Is Out on This One"); making amends ("Much Ado About Nodlings"); sharing responsibilities ("Four Little Pigs"); and cooperation ("Quibbling Siblings"). Despite a few adult-frightening dragon voices (Wheezie seems to be channeling Jo Anne Worley), the series affords preschoolers characters with whom they can readily identify, and the illustrations of right and wrong ways to solve problems and treat one another are vivid. There's also a trio of catchy Dragon Tunes -- "Shake Your Dragon Tail," "Betcha Can," and "Wiggle" -- that should be viewed as opportunities to get the little sofa spuds up and moving now and then.
