Decent. Not bad. But not great.

Actually, we can't, not ever, think we will ever see or expect everything about actual events to be shown or written for our benefit. If we expect that, then we will always be let down. As for the Sound Track sonding like disco, well, the same can be applied to the Highlander-which I really like, but not really Queens Rock/Disco-like-Tecno/Electric Track. I do agree that the music for this "Druids" film was not good. All Epic/Period-like movies MUST have a Symphony-like sound. Those were the instruments they had back then, it then makes us feel as if we are really there. We believe. Reasonably speaking, we should give fair judgement when we really have not known all there is to know or not seen all that there is to see about a movie(or anything):so actually, I have'nt seen this movie. lol. I have seen a few trailers, so I know what to expect.

    I Came, I Saw, I Vomited

Horrible film on the life and death of Vercingetorix, chief of the Gauls who fought Julius Caesar and was defeated at Alesia in 50 B.C. A heroic man of great courage and dignity whose historical persona should have never been dragged into this amateurish attempt of a movie! Everything in this movie is bad: the script, the editing, the acting, the dircetion, and the music. Klaus Maria Brandauer was miscast as Julius Caesar;it's hard to imagine him as one of the greatest Roman leaders with his heavy German accent. His acting is straight from the script and dry. Max Von Sydow is also good actor, but is barely acting in this film. The most horrible casting is Christopher Lambert as Vercingetorix. Already a mediocre at best, Lambert's build and charisma hardly matches that of a 20-year old Gallic nobleman who's fiece appeal and valor united all the tribes of Gaul against Rome: something that no other chieftain had ever been able to achieve in the history of the Gauls. The filming and editing was equally pathetic and demonstrated all of the skills of a poor amateur. Although the final scene showing the siege of Alesia details how Caesar's legions prepared fortifications with double pallisades, trenches, and forts, the film failed grasp how vast and dramatic the siege really was. There were over 250,000 Gauls fighting 60,000 Roman legionaires! The Roman fortifications covered a 25 mile circumference of double pallisades with towers and forts rising over hills, decending into valleys, and surrounding the city of Alesia. The hill town of Alesia in the movie looks more like a little match-stick pueblo surrounded by a small army. The film also makes the same mistake as so many other films of that period: stirrups did not exist until the 7th Century A.D. Both Romans and Celts used a Celtic saddle to support themselves on a horse: the front and rear parts of the saddle would curve inward near the thighs at the top to allow the rider to stand firm on the saddle. The script was minimal and failed to grasp the norms and values of antiquity. The dialogue reflects modern political concepts and social values that simply didn't exist in that time. One would think Vercingetorix wanted to build a socialist democracy. The soundtrack was equally horrible. A quasi-disco trendy soundtrack hardly sets the mood in a movie about antiquity: imagine how good of a movie Spartacus or Ben-Hur would have been with the Bee-Gees for a title theme and you have 'Druids.' Apart for history teachers who want to show their students brief details about how the Roman legions built their fortifications, this movie is not worth watching.
