Edward ScissorhandsDirector: Tim Burton
Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands opens as an eccentric inventor (Vincent Price) lovingly assembles a synthetic youth named Edward (Johnny Depp). Edward has all the essential ingredients for today's standard body, with the exception of a pair of hands. For what is initially thought to be a temporary period, he is fitted with long, scissor-like extremities that, while able to trim a mean hedge, are hardly conducive to day-to-day life. When the kindly inventor dies, however, Edward is left lonely and cursed with some very heavy metal for hands. He is eventually taken in by Peg Boggs (Dianne Weist), an Avon lady who takes pity on him after seeing his bleak existence. Edward, in spite of his inherent ability to slay anyone he comes across, is a gentle soul whose only wish is to be loved. His impromptu family has, at best, a limited understanding of Edward, but he finds himself drawn to Peg's weary but sympathetic daughter, Kim (Winona Ryder), who is dating Jim (Anthony Michael Hall), the neighborhood bully. Meanwhile, Edward finds himself a local celebrity after the town realizes that his talents include creative hedge trimming and an unrivaled ability to cut hair. His so-called friends are proven fair-weather when Edward is accused of a crime, after which his only supporters are Peg and Kim. ~ Tracie Cooper

This Allegorical tale about judgment and selective hearing is sure to haunt you and charm you. Edward's story id told with superb acting and passion. This funny/sad film is (in my opinion) Tim Burton's best!
Tim Burton's second best film, the first being Nightmare Before Christmas. This film captures anti-social, depressed, feel like you're going to destroy everything individual. This is Tim Burton's most involved film. The DVD is widescreen, great sound and a cool menu in which a book folds out to a castle. If you're a Tim Burton fan, I highly recommend you buy this DVD.
The story-line for Edward Scissorhands exeeds all expectations that one may have. Tim Burton again shows another great performance. Johnny Depp is also a great addition to the movie.
This moved me in a way few other movies have. The meaning of the movie is profound. The performances by Johhny Depp and Winona Ryder are absolutely phenomenal. The imagery is moving in this very beautiful movie. It is so emotional and wonderful. I highly recommend it.
This movie is really amazing. It's Tim Burtons version of Beauty and the Beast meets Pinnocio(however it's spelled). This movie is one of my favorites
This movie made me look at someone that was different and say''there's nothing wrong with them.'' This movie gave thrills and spills. Even though this movie made me cry it was really inlightening.
Edward Scissorhands is based on the story starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. An inventor decided to make a man, but died before Edward, the man he invented, could have hands. Edward was left with scissors for hands. This movie is a very great movie. It has a mixture of love scenes, also, some funny parts, and some sad. I like this mainly because of Johnny Depp is in it. Also, it has a mixture of emotions.
It is really funny, sad, and romantic at the same time. It is the kind of movie that you can't help but like!If you like Johnny Depp, you'll love it. It is Depptastic!!!!
This movie was soooo great! It made me cry and it was hilarious at times. I watched it four times in one day. I love johnny depp and I thought alan arkin was funny too. I would recommend this to everyone!!!!
I remember watching this movie as a little kid, maybe 8-years-old,and I vividly remember the part where Edward is sitting alone on a curb when the town is searching for him and a shaggy dog comes and sits next to him,Edward reaches over and clips the hair from the dog's eyes, and the dog licks him in the face, that part made me really sad,I almost cried at the end. And Johnny Depp is so young in this movie compared to the deep tan and bumbling words in Pirates of the Carribian, this movie brings out the softer innocent side of the A-list badboy Depp, bolth movies he did an astounding job!I absolutly love him! I know he's in alot of Tim Burton's films,a good actor for them indeed!
This movie touched me like no other has ever, I'll never forget Edward Scissorhands, he is my reason for living. Tim Burton is a genius and Johnny Depp's performance was truly touching. This movie will always ALWAYS have a place in the dark and shadowy space I call my soul...
This is the first movie I saw Johnny Depp in and I immediately feel in love with him.I've seen every movie he's made but this is definitly my favorite! He's so innocent and vulnerable it just makes him even cutter. This movie definitly has a special place in my heart. What makes this movie so great(besides Johnny)is it's not a sappy love story, and has great actors!
In Edward Scissorhands we see how the world corrupts the innocent. Edward is a magnificent creation and symbolizes how fragile humans truly are. If you enjoy learning about life and are intouch with your emotions you would be proud to say you've seen this movie.Johnny Deep is a talented actor and brings life to his misunderstood character. While Winona Rider finds her self in love with the sheldered man of mystery. Edward Scissorhands is a work of art, and you can obviuosly see how creative of a mind Tim Burton has.
I've seen this movie when I was younger and I just saw it again about a month ago and I don't know what I would do without this movie. Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors and this movie is very typical of him. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder were amazing together. This movie shows you what its like to be different and descriminating against others because of the way that they look which is a huge problem in our society. I think that Tim Burton has outdone himself with this movie. The costumes and makeup is amazing, along with the whole cast from the mother, to Edward himself. THis movie is one that would appeal to audiences of all ages, whether you like a little drama or a comedy this movie would be recommended for you.
Incredible. Thats what this movie is. I watch this movie every christmas eve. Even though it is a little weird i do it any way. It is so great. This movie is so fantastic i could not get enough of. Johnny depp and wynona ryder are awsome.
This movie is one for all ages. Tim Burton can make good movies and this might just be the best he's made in my opinion. Johny Depp also suits the role for Edward perfectly, just the man for the job! Not just Johny but the rest of the actors are very good also.
