It was a really good movie.I've always been fascinated by Elizabeth 1.This movie showed a great deal of what really happened 400 years ago!Cate blanchett,I think,is the best for this part because she resembles elizabeth and has elizabeths grace.I love it

This movie is and always will be one of my all time favorites! The acting is increadible, the costumes are amazing and the story is fairly accurate as this is based on Queen Elizabeth I's life, loves and struggles of being a queen in a very controversial time in England's history. Cate Blanchett is not only beautiful, but extremely talented and proves that in this movie. This movie is a #1 hit in my opinion and if you like drama and romance, you will love it! A MUST have for your DVD collection. This movie is not apropriate for children as it does contain a lot of sexual content.

Too much gore/violence, not in good taste, whatsoever. Character development weak and obscured by the flashy scenery, i.e., superficiality prevails. The only good thing was the costumes.

This movie depicts Elizabeth as a women with the wate of the world on her shulders and her inner wistom to rise to the challenges being the ruller of England.

Though the writers were a bit loose with history, this is a lovely movie that shows Elizabeth as a person, not a stiff Queen-doll like others have shown her. The magnificently powerful staging shows her as a high spirited, passionate woman whose loss at love turns her into the Virgin Queen, married not to a man, but to England.
My only problem with the movie was its rating of R. Because of this, it cannot be shown in many high schools in America. I would so have loved to have shown it to my students.

I was enthralled with Elizabeth the first time I viewed it, but disappointed that it seemed to end so abruptly. I wanted more. Everything about it stays with me - the perfection of the many faces of Cate Blanchett as Elizabeth, the many moods of the music (exceptionally beautiful score), the plot twists and twisted characters, and the superb supporting cast. Of course now I have to buy the soundtrack as well as Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

This was a greatly entertaining movie. The sets, costumes, acting -- all first-rate. But after reading Alison Weir's book, I realize there are a number of major innaccuracies in this film. So enjoy it for what it is: a costume drama based on actual persons, but not necessarily actual events.

This is an excellent movie however if you are looking for a movie that deals with actual events that occured during the time of Elizabeth I this is not the movie you want to watch for that watch Elizabeth R staring Glenda Jackson (BBC 1972). But this movie is very well done and very dramatic and I did enjoy it.

Historical accuracy is blatantly set aside in this lavish production. Cate Blanchett does a fine interpretation of Elizabeth Tudor, a strong woman schooled in the subties of court politics. But handsome Joseph Fiennes makes a rather scrawny Master of Horse, mistakenly called "Robert" instead of "Robin," and caught up in a silly assassination plot!

I rented this movie thinking that it wouldn't be that good or a bit boring even though I had heard it was great. I have studied much on Queen Elizabeth I and find this movie to be quite accurate. Cate Blanchett was perfect as playinf paying the role of Elizabeth and Joseph Fiennes who played Lord Robert Dudley is always great no matter what he is in. If you don't pay attention to this movie you will not understabd it.

I thought this was a very good movie. Even though it doesn't quite follow historically the way Queen Elizabeth's reign really happened, I found it was a very good movie. I think it was a little easier to understand because I studied Queen Elizabeth in a history class. The proucers/directors of the movie did an excellent job of compacting the first few years of her reign into the two hour movie and completing the task of keeping the viewers attention. I highly recommend this movie to anyone with a fascination of the 14th century or rennaisance era.
