I love enjoyable documentaries that also bring personal fulfillment. This is one of them. A true educational encounter that will leave you interested in exploring your own ancestry. A superb teaching tool for all ages! It can even be beautifully emotional. Sit back and enjoy...Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This documentary about thousands of immigrants coming to the shores of America from Europe-Africa-Middle East has touched my very soul because both sides of my family has immigrated from both Italy and Ireland. It is interesting to hear from the narrator and from those people who immigrated back during the early 1900's what it was like to travel on board and what they had to endure while being processed on the island. The hardest thing that any family had to endure was when a child was taken away by a doctor and nurse from the mothers arm-not telling the mother why they were taking the child-more often because the child was sick with the mumps or some other disease. If the child was not well at some point, they would send the child back to its home country-usually with one of the parents if the child was below a certain age.Was this review helpful?
