Disc. #4 will not let you play Inferno by itself, you have to play all to watch Inferno. I loved this show. I wish they played the whole eposides and not edited any of it out.

I loved this show when I was growing up and really appreciate that five of the seasons have been released on DVD. I just wished Universal had done something to improve the quality of the recordings before releasing them.

Emergency! is one of a number of series I've long regarded as overdue for a DVD release. The series was popular enough to last six seasons in first-run, with a number of follow-up made-for-TV movies. It held up well in strip syndication "beginning while it was still in first-run, and continuing for around a decade", and it has inspired fan sites, fan fiction, and even conventions. It also was responsible for educating the public about the existence of paramedic programs, and inspiring many people to take CPR training. The DVD releases of the series, so far, have been less-than-stellar: where DVD releases of Star Trek, Get Smart, and many feature films have included such special features as commentaries, documentary featurettes, and even interactive puzzles, the Emergency! DVDs to date have had only the most minimal of menus, little more sophisticated than what a home DVD recorder might produce. Likewise, where many DVD releases have been made from the best available release prints, or have even gone back to the negatives, and have even had digital restoration work done on them, the Emergency! DVD releases look, in some places, like the film had not even been cleaned prior to the transfer. Then, too, there are other issues, such as anacronistic "opens" from later seasons on about half of the episodes, that show a similar lack of attention to detail. All in all, they look like a rush job. Responding to complaints from some users, Universal has, with this season, switched from double-sided to single-sided media, but some have complained, and not without reason, that the labels look like something you'd find on a bootleg DVD. Personally, I'd have gladly stuck with the double-sided media, and waited a few more months, if only Universal had produced cleaner transfers, and better menus. All in all, I don't regret purchasing the first three Emergency! DVD season sets, and I regard them as an excellent value for the price, but at the same time, Universal could have done a much better job with them. Hopefully, they will do a better job with future seasons.

I purchased this for my teenage children. I grew up watching this series and loved it. Now my children enjoy it as much as I did.

I wish I could rate this twice. If I could, the show would get 5 stars and Universal's poor-quality release would get 3 stars. Don't let their sloppiness spoil the show for you. It's a great show for the whole family. Also, if you watch all the episodes, you see the storylines that inspired many of the plots from todays shows such as ER, Third Watch, Grey's Anatomy (the unexploded shell in the guy is straight out of Season 3 of Emergency), etc. As a kid, I loved this show, and I enjoy it as much as ever as an adult. The polyester fashions are a little scary, but worth a giggle in their own right.
