Human Creativity and Ingenuity Traveling Through the Ages

"Engineering an Empire" explores with much mastery the architectural and engineering accomplishments of a wide variety of ancient and more recent civilizations. It provides superb location footage, expert comments, and state-of-the-art computer animation. Actor and art historian Peter Weller makes this series stand out in its genre. Weller makes architectural and engineering marvels accessible to a wide audience by keeping his coverage both erudite and entertaining. The only critique that can be leveled against the series is its lack of coverage of select empires such as the Incas, the Mughals, and the African Empires with the exception of Egypt. To summarize, "Engineering an Empire" is an invitation extended to spectators to go (back) to the locations covered in this production and to view these splendors for themselves.

    I Also Recommend:

    Brilliantly Informative

This series is excellent. The information presented spans beyond the genre of history. Representative of other history channel shows, the DVD is aided with brilliant diagrammatic aids, clear information and expert opinion. Engaging and informative.

This DVD would be excellent for middle school or high school students. Maybe a future engineer?
