Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Cree McCree
Hard to believe, but there actually was a time when George Clooney was not a household name. That changed abruptly in 1994, when ER debuted and turned the messy life-and-death realities of a fictional Chicago hospital into the most-watched drama of the decade. The groundbreaking first season redefined the medical genre with raw emotions and staccato cuts that heightened the harrowing action. Part of the show's initial draw was sheer star power; besides Clooney, the original cast included Anthony Edwards, Julia Margulies, and Eriq LaSalle, along with A-list guest stars from Ving Rhames to Quentin Tarantino who also directed an episode. But what really hooked viewers was ER's unflinching look at what makes people tick, from the patients on the operating table to the surgeons wielding the defibrillators. Beginning with the pilot, in which Clooney's Dr. Doug Ross comes to work drunk, the 25 episodes archived here expose the characters' flaws like an X-ray machine. Some are all-time classics like "Blizzard," in which the victims of a 32-car crash descend en masse on the harried staff. The Emmy-winning "Love's Labor Lost" has been enshrined by TV Guide as one of the greatest shows of all time. Learn how the crew shot this nail-biter on the DVD, which boasts a bevy of extra features: commentary tracks, two making-of documentaries, and featurettes and outtakes -- a menu as classy as the show itself.

ER makes you feel like you are in the Emergency Room!

I bought ER only because my friends and family had reccommended it to me, but once I started watching the pilot episode, I was not able to put it down until I was done with the first season. I really enjoyed following Carter throughout season one and I am interested to know what is in store for him in season two.

    ER Fanatic! Excellent ! Marvelous!

ER is a fantastic show with drama and comedy. It is a must have for every fan of the show. Also it is a must have for the first time viewer. This series has proven the most excellent long lasting tv show of our time. I truly recommended this Dvd 4-pack.
