Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
The 26 episodes of Season 3 find this enormously popular sitcom in its prime, with all the characters fully developed and some genuinely poignant moments occasionally creeping into even the most raucously funny shows. For example, when Debra Patricia Heaton refuses to allow the kids to ride with grandpa Frank Peter Boyle after his latest car accident, Ray Ray Romano sees his dad's increasingly poor driving as a sign of his parents' mortality. "The Visit" finds Debra a little miffed that her visiting mother Katherine Helmond isn't more like the nurturing Marie Doris Roberts. And the season finale, "How They Met," takes Ray and Debra on a little trip down memory lane, as they recall their first meeting 15 years before. In between are a slew of rib-ticklers, among them "Getting Even," in which Ray embarrasses Debra at an auction and spends the next week looking over his shoulder after she promises to get even. "Robert's Date," which fans voted their fifth-favorite episode of the entire series, is a showcase for Brad Garrett, whose character goes a little wacky when he starts dating his much younger, much wilder patrol partner. Although the show didn’t begin winning Emmys for another season or so, Season 3 was the first year that Raymond drew nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. Even the weaker episodes in this run are still good for a few belly laughs.

    Defective disc

Found one defective disc and e-mailed the company. Returned the disc - waiting for replacement. Unfortunately, later I found another defective disc. They replied to my original e-mail but I would have liked to have a phone number to speak with someone about finding another problem.

    A reviewer

This season is really funny. Two great episodes are "Driving Frank", where Frank accidently backs his car into Robert's squad car, and has to take a driver's test, because he has road rage, and refuses to get his license renewed. Another funny one is "Getting Even", where Debra vows to get even with Ray, because he messed up while being the speaker at an auction. Frank accidently wins a canoe trip, and when he and Marie go on the trip, Marie gets into the canoe, and Frank pushes it away, and he takes the paddle, and picnic basket, leaving Marie to float away.
