Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Erik Larson's book Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America ranked among 2003's best reads, earning the author an Edgar Award and a place on the National Book Award shortlist. Filmmaker Mark Bussler returns to that unique historical moment for Expo: The Magic of the White City, a feature-length documentary narrated by Gene Wilder that brings the 1893 Chicago World's Fair to cinematic life. The landmark exhibition, visited by as many as 28 million people according to estimates, celebrated advances in science, technology (its massive use of electricity was, at the time, unprecedented), and culture, serving as a launching platform for innovations as varied as the Ferris wheel and Cracker Jack.

Very educational and interesting information regarding the history of Chicago. Really enjoyed watching this DVD and learning about the hidden past.

This documentary is a knock-off of Ric Burns style. There is virtually no linkage between the parts that are divided by video shots of flowers and insects??? I was very dissappointed and wold not recommend this DVD to anyone. Save your money and buy the PBS documentary about Chicago...a much better buy and superb quality.
