Overview

Directed by Mark Neale, Faster revolves around a world as competitive as it is dangerous: championship motorcycle racing. Filmed throughout the 2001 and 2002 seasons, the documentary delves into the 16 races held annually; these competitions culminate in the naming of a single champion. Like most extreme sports documentaries, Faster has more than its share of thrills, spills, crashes, slide-outs, and flips. The footage is supplemented, however, by interviews with racers including Australian veteran Garry McCoy, who had a titanium rod put in his leg only to crash shortly afterwards; the now-paralyzed former racer Wayne Rainey; hotshot American newcomer John Hopkins; and Italian rivals Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi. Managers, mechanics, and doctors also offer insight regarding what makes championship motorcycle tournaments tick, and the borderline obsessive dedication needed to persevere within the sport.

    Phenomenal film-making!

Director Mark Neale takes you on a behind the scenes look at one of the world's most dangerous and exciting sports, Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing, otherwise known as MotoGP. A real insider look at the 200+ m.p.h motorcycles and the men who ride them. A definite must have for any motorcycle aficionado!

One of the great roadracing movies

This is a great documentary film about the highest level of international motorcycle roadracing. The story is told mainly through extended interviews -- and as dull as that may sound, it's a very exciting film. One reason for that is the visual impact of the racing, and also the soundtrack. Another reason the interviews are so interesting is that the people interviewed are so fascinating and engaging. I think this is a film with a wider potential audience than you might think. Anyone who likes to drive fast, or who races in any kind of motorsports, would of course love this film. And anyone who follows MotoGP racing will recognize some of their heroes. But for those who don't follow racing, and who don't ride a bike, I really feel that the people in the film will hold their attention. They're fun people, at the same time that they are driven to pursue a difficult sport at the very highest level.
