This movie is flawless plain and simple. Guys, here's a priceless tip for you. If you're like me and you can't stand brainless, shallow date movies and your girlfriend or wife is insisting that it's time to watch one, suggest Father of the Bride. I guarantee you will not fall asleep and get into an argument aftwerward about how insensitive you can be and how you don't like anything she likes. In the twenty years it's been out I have NEVER met a person who didn't love it (or hasn't seen it). There will be laughs, there will be tears, and there will be a void in your life that has been filled by watching this perfect, perfect movie.

I love Steve Martin, Martin Short and Diane Keaton, and they were excellent in this film. I watch it when I need to feel good and need a good laugh!

OMG!!! I LOVE this movie it is an awesome movie about a dad whose daughter is 22 and gets engaged over the summer. Its just this whole story of how he has to admit that his daughter is grown up. I cried. It is a AWESOME movie though!

i have always loved reading and watching about weddings and i am only 10! my friend and i just randomly picked up this movie on a rainy night and thought that we would get a laugh out of it,but we ended up crying through out half the movie and we still can not decide if we still want to get married!i think that it is a very touching movie to watch with your dad how young you are.

I just got engaged on June 4, (2004) to my fiance. Even BEFORE I was engaged to or in a relationship with my fiance, I have ALWAYS maintained that Steve Martin's character, George Banks reminded me of my dad, ESPECIALLY after George Banks is told that his daughter, Annie is getting married. What happens is that George sees Annie as a little seven-year-old girl in pig tails sitting at the dinner table, telling him that she is engaged. George's response to hearing of his daughter's engagement/future marriage was the EXACT SAME one as my dad's response was to hearing about MY engagement to my fiance. My dad talks like he would be George Banks in real life, because just like George and Annie Banks' relationship in the movie, I have a really wonderful relationship with my dad. My dad even acted like I was a little seven-year-old girl in pig tails when I told him that I was getting married. I was watching this movie today and I laughed SO hard through out this enitre movie. I highly recommend obtaining this movie, especially if you want to get a really good, hard laugh. Even Martin Short is a hoot as 'Franc' in this movie.

I love this movie! Steve Martin is a riot, and the whole storyline is really funny. My favorite part was when George (Martin) ends up in jail for stealing hot dog buns! If you want to find out where that fits in, and if you just want some romantic fun, you gotta watch the movie.

This is one of my favorite movies! Steve Martin and Martin Short are hilarious together. It's so sweet how Martin cares so much about his daughter. So many fathers feel the same way and it's hard to let go. Kimberly Williams is a wonderful actress and I hope to see more of her in the future.
