    Great Film

This is an interesting movie, based on a UFO encounter by an individual, whose story has held up, even under hypnosis, for more than twenty five years. The film is more like a detective story at first, looking for some explainable scenario or motive to account for Travis Walton's 'alleged' alien encounter; there is none. The last third of the film where he, played by DB Sweeney, recalls the actual abduction experience aboard the alien space ship, again under hypnosis, is nothing short of spectacular film-making. If this was all a fraud, the story (I have read the book, too) it would never have withstood the test of time over the years. Walton was a working guy, a power company linesman out in the southwest, and had absolutely no reason or discernable ulterior motive to concoct such a story. Several other witnesses (co-workers) also witnessed the abduction. The fact that this is all based on a supposedly true, and well documented, story for which there has been no satisfatory explanation, makes the film all the more interesting. I have been waiting for this film to come out in DVD format for awhile; it's about time.

I give it five stars for two questionable reasons: 1) it scared my longtime friend. 2) it confirmed my suspicion that the inside of a flying saucer having the million-years-advanced technology to cross the gulf between the stars to do anal probes on humans would best appear on the trash TV show HOARDERS. What a dump of a UFO inside! It's like ET as a homeless waif living in a dumpster. And the Invaders go around sucking up redneck woodsmen with a Star Trek tractor beam to study and delete what little brains they had to begin with. This might have been one of the first Reality TV shows. It's not quite as hilarious as COMMUNION, with an alien peeking around a corner, but has its moments.
