Overview

Having suffered a fatal heart attack on the eve of her adoring granddaughter's eleventh birthday, a devoted grandmother wages a valiant fight in heaven to return to Earth one last time and celebrate alongside the little girl she loves most. Sarah Miller (Florence Henderson) adores her ten year old granddaughter Katie (Stephanie Patton), and the feeling is most certainly mutual. At the moment Katie is planning her eleventh birthday party, an event that Sarah claims she wouldn't miss for the world. But when Sarah drops dead of a heart attack just before the party and finds herself ascending to heaven, her only thought is how disappointed her granddaughter will be if her "Nanny" isn't there to share in the delicious cake and memorable moments. Sarah isn't particularly religious, though her heavenly guide Ashley (Yanni King) vows to do everything within his power to help secure the skeptical newcomer a short reprieve from death so she can attend the upcoming party. Meanwhile, down on Earth, Katie has an unexpectedly severe reaction to the news of her grandmother's passing. As the day of the party arrives, Sarah is still in a bureaucratic nightmare of cosmic proportions. The paperwork required for her return to Earth is taking forever to fill out, and as she races to ensure that every signature is in place Katie collapses in agony. Just as Katie is being rushed to the hospital, however, Sarah secures her passage to Earth and makes good on her promise to attend at the party. Upon returning to heaven, however, Sarah witnesses a sight that prompts her to pray as never before.

Laughs with a lot of heart!

A crazy, zany, energetic and WONDERFUL story written by the very talented Ann Marcus, and directed by the equally talented director, Nat Christian.

Marcus skillfully puts on paper this story about a grandmother who dies and goes to heaven to see that it is a huge bureaucracy. The grandmother manages to go back and see her granddaughter just one more time before saying a final goodbye. In the meanwhile, the grandmother's ex hubby, who had died before her, may be having an affair with another woman in heaven!

Christian handles the task of directing all of the emotional and outrageous moments with a proper balance and paints it beautifully on the screen.

Florence Henderson is excellent and very attractive in this. Stephanie Patton is dynamic as the granddaughter. Allison Lange is a talented beauty. David Paetkau, Kathryn Gordon and Yaani King are also very good.

I recommend.

    Works like a charm

Funny in a zany way. Touching in profound way. And thoroughly enjoyable.

Beautifully written by Ann Marcus of TV's Mary Hartman fame, this movie offers a lot in one package. Marcus's thoughts on death and Heaven are emotionally charged and funny, respectively. Designing these elements together and putting them on the canvas is done exceptionally well by director, Nat Christian, who also does a splendid job of choreographing these moments with the necessary highs and lows. Florence Henderson comes off like a charm. Allison Lange is, well, beautiful (and quite talented). David Paetkau, Yaani King and Kathryn Gordon deliver a bundle of talent. The movie also offers up a very gifted young actress, Stephanie Patton. Good music by James Barth.
