From Dusk Till Dawn

Overview

Though the transfer used on this DVD is not anamorphic (a real shame), the image is surprisingly strong. Some grain is forgivable, but the overall feel of the film, which includes everything from odd coloring to deep blacks, comes across as well as could be hoped. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track, is very powerful, with numerous instances of exciting surround material, while the dialogue is centered up front. It's a very creative soundtrack that will take advantage of a good sound system. This disc also has a...

This disc also has a surround track in French and subtitles in Spanish. English captions are included for televisions that offer that option. The first disc, along with the movie, has the extras, and they are significant. First up is a scene-specific commentary from director Robert Rodriguez and writer/actor Quentin Tarantino. This is followed by numerous outtakes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and alternate takes. One of the highlights is called "The Art of Making the Movie" which (along with commentary) covers four sections of the film, including "The Opening," "The Hostage," "Titty Twister," and "Rat Man and Battle 3." In addition there is an extensive photo gallery, music videos from Tito And Tarantula ("After Dark") and ZZ Top ("She's Just Killing Me"), cast and crew biographies, television spots in English and Spanish, and the film's theatrical trailer. While these extras make this disc well worth the price, it's the inclusion of the 90-minute documentary Full-Tilt Boogie that really makes this two-disc set a special edition. Nearly every aspect of the production is covered, revealing what guerrilla filmmaking is like. Without the documentary this would have been a fine disc, but including it makes something outstanding. While From Dusk Till Dawn is not a film that will appeal to all tastes, fans of this horror
oad trip will be amazed at how much has been packed into this disc.

this movie is great. i agree with most everyone that the plot is dumb but this movie is amazing. it has great one liners, tons of vampires, and endless action. this movie rocks.

    stripper vampires?

This movie starts off with an excellent beginning, a little on the gory side. Plot has great potential. Then the vampires come in. Dusk till Dawn went from great to not so great at all. Unfortunately someone close to me happens to love this movie so for them i give it a three instead of one. Besides the beginnings good, and hey, Salma Hayek is hot.
