Anyone who has read the book first before seeing the DVD should be forewarned that while the book has a much broader focus, covering the Obama/Clinton/Edwards competition for the Democratic nomination as well as the lead up to the general election between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin., the HBO movie focuses solely on McCain's choice of Palin for his running mate. I had heard and read any number of comments that the movie was very critical of Palin and I wouldn't disagree, but there were also many occasions in the movie where she is cast in a sympathetic light,--such as her concern for her pregnant teenage daughter and the toll it was taking on her, and her missing her family, which seemed normal and real to me. The movie went for shock value, but that's what movie makers try to do. For a more encompassing, fleshed out story, I would suggest reading the book.
