Rating is for the show, not the DVD (not yet released)

In case you've been hiding under a rock the past 6 months, GoT is THE cable TV show of the year. If you haven't seen it, get the DVD now! Dark, complex and riveting, it will challenge anybody's ideas of what "fantasy" can be. Not for kids, though!

Love love love the HBO series, the books, and now the Blu-Ray

Merry Christmas to me; this had better be under my tree this year (well at least the receipt showing it's been ordered)! There was a reason this was on HBO rather than regular cable, it really isn't for children. However, for anyone who enjoys epic fantasy, this is one I highly recommend! The first season was well done. Very close to the book (thanks GRRM!!!) and the changes that did happen were understandable because they did not translate from print to live action well. Cannot wait to own this!

I need to have this under the tree. I am on book five. I saw 3 episodes before it was taken off ONDemand. The show was great. A good adaptation of the book.

    Good

This is a really good show. Has its share of mystery to it and foreshadowing. Recommend the show if you've either read or heard of the books or just like a good fantasy kind of show.

I have to laugh at those who claim to have read the books yet complain that the HBO series features too much violence against women.  I guess these people missed all the brutal rape scenes in the book, particularly by Gregor Clegane.  Yep, the period was called "The Dark Ages" for a reason.  GRR Martin doesn't glorify it, but he writes characters true to the period.

    Amazing!

The best series I have seen in an age. Combining intelligence, imagery, intrigue and sex. The only problem I have is that there aren't more episodes to each season. Wonderful, multi-demensional characters in a lush and gripping setting. Highly recommended!

    first season

I am a fan of Game of Thrones but missed the first season. This was very helpful to get the history. It made me more of a fan of Jon Snow. Good DVD and glad I purchased it.

    I Also Recommend:

Game of Thrones, brilliant books, brilliant show!

For a five-disc set, this is a fairly decent TV season. Ten episodes, each disc containing behind the scenes commentary per episode, the full length episode, and a recap of relevant plot points pertaining to each episode (baring the first, of course).

This season essentially covers the first book of George R Martin's Song of Fire & Ice book series.
The casting is great, with dominant acting in the roles requiring prominence. The portrayals help viewers to empathize with some if not all of the characters and paints a beautiful scenescape of this epic. The ending is an End with all loose ends accounted for, but will leave viewers aching for the next season post haste!

The packing and shipping was prompt and secure. The set comes inside a slipsheath cover (open at top and bottom), and hard box cover (like paperback book series can come) as well. It folds out in a manner that will not be broken with gentle to moderate handling, so I can see the initial case lasting for a fair amount of time in my case.

    View at your own risk

Any story that exists in the first season of this series is shockingly overshadowed by the explicit sexual abuse of women characters over and over and over again. Stick to the book.

Porn with a plot! Bought this sight unseen. I didn't know anything about the show. Thought it would be quasi Lord of the Rings. WRONG. Really good storyline and lush lavish sets but sorry, the porn really detracted from the story. Could have been good.

I do like Sean Bean but I have seen him do better work (LOTR, GoldenEye, and Patriot Games). The Khal, Lord Tryion and Jon Snow are pretty much the whole show. I find myself being more interested in the supporting characters rather than the main ones. A decent show but not in the same league as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead or even Mad Men. Maybe season 2 is better?

This is one of HBOs best shows ever! I think the packaging is a little over done but well worth the cost!
