Great movie, but it is Not letterbox format.

I found this to be a wonderful movie, set to the background of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi's beautifully designed structures in Barcelona. Judy Davis is marvelous as the translator, turned reluctant gumshoe. When the alluring Frankie asks her to help find her mate Ben, who, with another woman, has absconded with their child, she embarks on a strange journey through Barcelona. Cassandra Reilley (Davis) agrees to help but finds that not everything is, as it seems. She is left scratching her head at every turn trying to figure out just what is going on and who is who. I was fortunate to see Gaudi's architecture in 1975, so I can speak from experience that this is a film that must be seen in letterbox format. The only thing wrong with the DVD of "Gaudi Afternoon" that Barnes and Noble is selling is that it NOT letterbox format! I wish they would not advertise it as such. The theatrical movie release has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (Letterbox). What Barnes and Noble is selling has an aspect ratio of 1.66:1 (Pan and Scan). They should either quit advertising it as Letterbox format or find the actual Letterbox version to sell.
