Overview

The story of the internationally acclaimed anime feature Ghost in the Shell continues in this collection of episodes from the video series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, which takes the characters around the globe. While calling on an old friend, Aramaki is suddenly thrown into a dangerous situation when he's abducted by a gang of criminals, leading to a standoff with the police, who are not especially concerned with his safety. Later, while attending the funeral of a friend from his army days, Aramaki learns that the late man's son has become psychologically unstable -- does this have anything to do with the recent appearance of a Chinese diplomat? Sector Nine is assigned to look into a recent rash of abductions, which have been linked to a sinister group dealing human organs on the black market. And finally, Togusa once again finds himself on the trail of the Laughing Man, who has now become linked to a pair of shadowy business organizations. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Vol. 5 features episodes 17 through 20 in the series.
