Ghost Ship

Overview

Warner Bros.' Ghost Ship failed miserably in theaters despite an ensemble cast and promising story line. Although the movie itself is a bit predictable and far-fetched, Warner did a decent job creating a DVD that will appeal to fans of the horror genre. First off, the holographic packaging is amazing and completely eye-grabbing. The picture, presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, is pristine. The English 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack showcases the range of sounds found in the film, from eerie winds to ...

The English 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack showcases the range of sounds found in the film, from eerie winds to bloodcurdling screams. Yet the list of extras doesn't quite meet this same over-the-top level. The audio commentary staple is lacking, and since Ghost Ship is produced by The Matrix's Joel Silver and Cast Away's Robert Zemeckis, it would have been enlightening to hear how this power team managed the gore-fest known as Ghost Ship. But the disc does boast of some nifty extras, especially the gruesome featurette ,"A Closer Look at the Gore." The film is so laden with blood, trauma, and total body destruction, it's fascinating to see exactly how they sliced bodies in half or how that eyeball popped out. Then there's "Max on Set: Ghost Ship," a standard behind-the-scenes promotional feature filled with the cast and crew, such as stars Julianna Marguiles and Gabriel Byrne, which is decent but boring compared to the too-short "Gore." The "Secrets of the Antonia Graza" game is an exasperating puzzle that reveals even more mysteries about the ship. To finish, there's the "Designing Ghost Ship " feature, a piece on visual effects, and a Mudvayne music video.

    I Also Recommend:

Whenever I think of this film I always remember the opening sequence (highlight of the film really).

I always loved the whole haunted ghost ship setting atmosphere. This is one of those films that isn't perfect but its still an okay movie none the less. I was actually surprised by the twist. The film's not really that scary to be honest but still interesting. Watch for a young Emily Browning (A Series of Unfortunate Events) as a ghost. Forgot she was in this. Moving on, you have a crew that finds the ship and that's when the terror begins. The effects were actually good for once. Its a movie you can see if there's nothing else on TV or with friends. Recommend it either way.

'Ghost' Katie Hargrove in Ghost Ship is awesome!

I watched Ghost Ship because I had heard Emily Browning (Katie Hargrove) was in it. At the time I was into seeing Emily in other films. I love Katie portrayed by Emily. She was a perfect touch to the movie. If Katie wasn't in Ghost Ship I don't think I would have enjoyed the movie as much. But the whole movie was really cool and the story had a great twist to it in the end. You have to see it for yourself! I watched the movie over and over again! The DVD has a great music video too!

A said movie that keeps you in your seat for more!

I watched the movie and found it to be very interesting. Like what would you do if you were in that situation? Katie the little girl held hostage on the ship is very convincing. After I started watching it I could not leave the room!! Great movie!

    Cheese-O-Rama!

Boring, predictable, and dull. There are NO original ideas in this movie. The soundtrack consists of music totally inappropriate to the atmosphere and action on screen. It LOOKS, cool, though. The sets are very well done. But, that's about it. Otherwise, scuttle this floating pile of garbage.

    Ghost Ship

It's refreshing to step away from the normal BS that Hollywood is calling horror these days. With all the negative reviews I heard on this movie, I was pleasently impressed with what I seen when I watched it. As for the ''cheesy-a**'' ending, some of us men who have women actually want our women to watch and become interested in horror flicks. It's not all blood and guts.

What is this some kind of happy-ending fairy tale?!

Overall, I was greatly disappointed when I saw this movie. I honestly thought it was going to be really interesting as well as scary. Turns out it's just confused (as a movie). What they tried to do with this piece of junk was mix two types of movie genres and expect to have good results. You're better off watching Titanic because that's pretty much all it was- drama. The only good part I liked about this movie was the carnage in the beginning. I don't want to ruin it for other people. It's really not scary enough to enjoy it. Instead of jumping in fright you'll probably be crying for two reasons: 1)The cheesy-a** happy ending was too sad, 2)The cheesy-a** happy ending was too stupid and now you blew the night watching this junk.

    NOT SCARY

A rusty ship. A good ghost. Some bad ghosts. Some gold. So what?! I've yet to see something really, truly frightening.
