Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
One of the 2005-6 season's surprise hits, Ghost Whisperer enchanted viewers accustomed to seeing Gen-Y favorite Jennifer Love Hewitt in lighter, frothier roles. Called upon to display greater emotional range than heretofore, Love created a likable, well-rounded character in Melinda Gordon, a young lady who's had the power to see and communicate with earthbound spirits from a very young age. As the series begins, Melinda has recently ...

As the series begins, Melinda has recently married Jim Clancy David Conrad and moved into a new house, only to find a restless ghost a pre-Prison Break Wentworth Miller continuing to press for her aid in resolving old problems and helping him "cross over." Spawned as a result of the relatively recent interest in psychic phenomena on TV, Ghost Whisperer took a while to find and settle into its own groove, with episodes airing in the season's second half showing considerable improvement over earlier ones. "The Vanishing" finds Melinda's talent affected as the result of a head injury, and she and David wonder if they wouldn't be better off were she to lose her "gift" permanently. In the season finale, "The One," she deals with the horrendous aftermath of an airliner crash, helping hundreds to cross over while being hindered by a mysterious interloper known as "The Wide-Brim Man." Our favorite Season 1 installment, however, is "Melinda's First Ghost," which guest-stars Anne Archer as the mother whose relationship with Melinda became strained years ago because she couldn't cope with the notion that her daughter possessed such an awesome and potentially frightening ability. Hewitt and Archer both contribute memorable performances in this exceptionally well written episode, which downplays the supernatural stuff in favor of domestic drama.

I first started watching this show last year near the end of the second season and absolutely fell in love.. If you like the supernatural other things like that then you will love this show... It's basically about a woman named Melinda Gordon who is able to see earth bound spirits since she was little and learned how to cross them over by her Grandmother...Since she has been crossing them over for some reason they are become much stronger and are gaining energy to move objects and trigger lights and etc.. It is very good...I know own the first season and hope to get the second for Christmas.. Deffinately one of my favourites. P.S. If you like Charmed, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Wolf lake or anything in that genre then you will love this series!

    Love this series!!

My friend got me hooked on this series, so I had to go back and "meet" the characters. I am so glad I did, now that I have the backstories it makes so much more sense.

    Ghost Whisperer - Season 1

I like this show alot! It's great to see again and learn some interesting things from the producer/writers from the show. Since its been awhile that the show has been on it is fun to watch over and see characters that have been on show or even the main actors/actress change.

The episodes would be so much better if the main character wouldn't kiss her husband non-stop and sleep with him at least once in every episode. And why does she have to wear those very revealing dresses and T-shirts? Hollywood focuses solely on her - and not on the "ghosts". All in all: very disappointing.
