The 5.1 mix features a very full range of effects in both the front and rear speakers, plus a thumping, bombastic bass that should give any home theater a through and rough workout. Also included on this disc is a French Dolby 2.0 soundtrack along with English and French subtitles. This monster disc includes a few extra features for Godzilla 2000 fans, including a very enlightening audio commentary by Michael Schlesinger, film editor Michael Mahoney, and sound editor Darren Paskal, discussing the American version of this film (compared to the original Japanese version). Also included on this disc is a short two-minute behind-the-scenes look at the film, a few talent biographies, and theatrical trailers for the Godzilla remake and Anaconda.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
Japan's resident monster star -- and everybody's favorite giant lizard -- enters the new millennium in this elaborate, effects-studded vehicle, a kitschy delight that ranks with the best of his 23 feature-film outings. As the film opens, Godzilla has surfaced near the island of Hokkaido, where he's spotted by leading man Takehiro Murata -- a technician working for the Godzilla Prediction Network an early-warning system designed to minimize civilian casualties. Government official Hiroshi Abe targets the rampaging reptile for destruction, but he changes his tune when a long-buried UFO rises from the sea and begins wreaking havoc: Only Godzilla, annoyed by this encroachment on his turf, can successfully engage the aliens in battle. Obviously committed to replicating the classic Godzilla movies of yore, director Takao Okawaro doesn't waste much footage on plot or characterization: Once he sets the scene, the human actors simply stand by and watch our hero do his thing. Sophisticated special effects including computer imagery are occasionally employed, but the lovable lizard still looks like a rubber-suited actor tromping on miniature Tinkertoy buildings. The American distributor has further enhanced Godzilla 2000 with lots of corny dialogue, making this old-fashioned monster movie an often hilarious romp.
New York Times - Stephen Holden
Watching this transcendentally tacky movie, which wants us to laugh at it and with it at the same time, it is easy to see why the series threatens to be as enduring as its namesake.

    A reviewer

This is definetley one of the best Godzilla movies ever! Godzilla is more powerful than ever! Orga is frightening, and the human drama is pretty good too. Those monster fights definetly mark the history of all Godzilla fights. If you love Godzilla, then you won't be disappointed!

    What a great Godzilla movie

This is one of the best Godzilla movies yet. The effects are really good and a lot more exciting than the new American version.

    What a wondreful movie.

The action in this movie is smart and great! The dubbing isn't terrible but sometimes you get dissapointed. This is a true Godzilla movie, and for those of you who think it stinks, please stop smoking whatever you are currently smoking!!
