A serial dater afflicted with a lifelong curse of loneliness attempts to win the love of a clumsy but beautiful penguin expert in the one romantic comedy that proves true love never comes easy. As a ten-year-old boy, Charlie Dane Cook, breaks the cardinal rule of spin-the-bottle by refusing to kiss a demented goth girl. Crushed by the disheartening snub and determined to ensure that Charlie never finds true love, the vengeful brooder places a hex on the cowardly rule breaker that follows him well into his adult life. Flash-forward 20 years, and Charlie is a successful dentist who just can't seem to maintain a stable relationship. Sure he's had his fair share of one-night stands, but these days Charlie is just looking to find a nice girl he can settle down with. One day, while attending an ex-girlfriend's wedding, Charlie realizes that every girl he has ever dated has proceeded to find true love with the very next man they've met. When word gets out that Charlie is something of a lucky charm for women looking to tie the knot, every women within a 100-mile radius comes calling for a one-night stand; and while taking a bevy of beauties to bed is fun for the time being, it doesn't take long for Charlie to realize just how empty sex can be without true love. Upon meeting hard-to-get aquatic bird specialist Cam Jessica Alba, Charlie begins to suspect that he has found the woman of his dreams. Cam is the kind of woman whom Charlie would be happy to grow old with, but what will come of their relationship if Charlie and Cam sleep together? Now, in order to ensure that Cam doesn't end up with the next guy she meets, Charlie will finally attempt to break the curse that has plagued him since childhood. Perhaps with a little help from smooth-talking ladies' man and sympathetic best friend Stu Dan Fogler, Charlie will finally be able to experience true happiness.

It's not art, it's just plain fun.

I've read several reviews comparing this movie to Dane Cooks stand up
comedy, and making claims of this film having too much sexual content.
Too much sexual content perhaps for someone frigid. This movie has only
a little more sex than your average comedy of today, and at least the
sexual content of this show is necessary to tell the story, instead of
sex for the sake of sex. The movie is about a guy with a curse on him
in which every woman he has sex with, marries the next guy she meets.
Women wanting to be brides then line up to have sex with this man, so that
they can find their true Love and get married. When Charlie meets his
true Love, he is torn between his desire for her sexually, and his fear of
going to bed with her, and losing her. If he does sleep with her, will she find
another Love to be with? It's a funny idea, with a good cast for this
type of movie. Like my headline says, it's not art, it's just plain fun.
It's not supposewd to move you, or teach you, make you think, or even
make you lust. It's just entertainment. The kind you just kick back
and enjoy, without putting a lot of thought to it. So give your brain
a rest and just enjoy the show for what it is. Also, Love the song
"Love it when you call" by The Feeling. Too bad though that they kept
cutting a line from the song which makes it sound much better. The song
originally says " I Love it when you call...but you never call at all.
The movie makers chose to cut the line, but you never call at all. I can
only suggest buying The Feeling's CD Twelve stops and home, to get the
best version of this song, and pass on the soundtrack CD. The movie is
however quite entertaining and funny, well worth the now cheap price
of the DVD. I noticed one reviewer claiming this movie to be an excuse
to show Dane Cook with a whole lot of different women. Well, the whole lot
of different women is necessary to the storyline. Furthermore, I doubt
that many movie makers are looking for excuses to show a variety of women
sleeping with Dane Cook. Dane Cook is an average looking guy. Maybe a
little above average, but hardly in the league of hunk status, which would be undeerstandable if he were and they wanted to make a sexy
film with him. The movie has sex in it because of the storyline, but is
not about being sexy. It's about comedy. Nothing too deep. Just fun.
Enjoy the show, and don't over think it. It's not thought provoking. It's
    just fun.

..And I thought Dane Cook Was Too High-Brow

Why is everybody so appalled at this movie? I thought it was a great comedy. The amount of nudity did cross the line, but if some people cannot look beyond that, so be it. I enjoyed this film even though I unwillingly watched it to humor my friends. Out of all the movies I have seen (a lot for 18), there are three that I frown on, and this is far from one. I recommend it at least for a viewing and good laugh. But if you have some sort of horrible phobia of nudity, or it simply disgusts you, maybe you should pass on this one.

    Pass....

Having seen Dane Cook as a stand-up comedian and been entertained by his humor and delivery, GOOD LUCK CHUCK seemed like an innocuous brainless evening entertainment. Unfortunately the story and script and direction are so sub par that even the most devoted of potty mouth movie fans will likely find this dud a bore. Hopefully Cook will be given better material for his next outing. The story is meager but deals with a childhood hex placed on Cook's character, dentist Charlie Logan, which prevents him from finding lasting love: every woman with whom he sleeps (and there are countless encounters in the buff on endless multi-screen images) will marry the man she meets after her liaison with 'good luck' Charlie Logan. His obnoxious breast augmenter best friend Stu (Dan Fogler) sees Chuck's hex as a godsend for open sex, but when Chuck meets Klutz penguin trainer (Jessica Alba) and falls in love, there are problems - the solutions of which are so disgusting and unfunny that hardly need repeating. This is a film, apparently with an audience (!), that is gross and so over the top that it completely wastes the talents of Cook and Alba. The film is being advertised as the 'chance to extensively see Dane Cook in the buff', but even that is an overstatement. Maybe if the viewer is on strong drugs....No, probably not even then. Pass on this one. Grady Harp

A Poor excuse for Dane Cook to be with a lot of women.

Not a family movie not even for a teenager. I'm a college student and when I when to see it with a bunch of my friends we were shocked. It was basically soft-core porn, kind of embarrassing when your in a mixed group of friends!!! Yes the plot was a good idea but it could have been done better! In my opinion Dane Cook should stick to stand up. The humor in this movie is very raunchy lots of sex jokes and the guy who plays Dane Cooks best friend is very crude almost to the point of being offensive. So if you are looking for a good Family movie this is NOT it!!!!
