Book title and author: RETURN OF THE MUMMY by R.L.STINE
Title of reviewer: David Mitchem
Number of stars (1 to 5): 4
Mummies---they seem to fascinate everyone. If you're like those people, then you will like this book. In this book Return of the Mummy by R.L. Stine, you will encounter a boy named Gabe visiting his uncle in Egypt. His uncle has discovered an ancient mummy that may just be hiding a secret. I can't tell you the main part of the story.
If you want to know more, then you will have to read the book. This book is an amazing Goosebumps book compared to any other Goosebumps book. This book is quite easy to read so it varies on who can read it. I would say children ranging from the age of 8 and up, or 3rd grade level and above, should be able to read this book, depending on how intellectually developed they are and on how interested they may be in reading books about mysteries of mummies.
Description and summary of main points
As I said before, this book is great for children 8 and up. The good thing is you don't get scared while reading it. Although if you're imaginative, then this book will make you think about what you would do if a mummy ever came to life before your very eyes.
The theme of this story centers around the petrified mummy hand that Gabe had purchased before he came to Egypt. Although he did not know it at the time, he later discovers that the hand, known as the "summoner", has special powers.
This book is just for the fun and enjoyment you get out of reading. One segment from the story states, "I do not want to force anyone to enter the tomb," Uncle Ben told them. This statement shows that Uncle Ben is considerate and doesn't want to upset his nephew or anyone else. This book is well written and what I would call a "quick and easy" read. It will make you want to read more to find out what will happen next.
This book has its good and its bad points. The bad things about this book are it takes a couple of chapters to really get into the book. However, once you get into it, you don't want to stop reading.
Now some good things about this book are it's easy to read and understand as well as being a short story. This also helps when you're really bored, because it is so entertaining and does not take much time to read.
The story follows the usual mummy theme but with a little added excitement, making you feel as if you are actually one of the characters.
I think that this book is amazing because it's entertaining and the creativity of the author R.L. Stine always shines through. The two main characters, Gabe and Sari, are on an adventure with Gabe's Uncle Ben, a famous archeologist. Known for digging pyramids for a few years, Ben naturally discovers a secret tomb containing a mummy. Of course, Sari knows about an Egyptian superstition that is supposed to actually wake the dead. What else will be inside and what does it take to open the tomb?
Your final review
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. Although this story is easy to read, it does have quite a few tough words that may require a higher-level understanding. That certainly won't stand in your way of enjoying the story line. As I said before, this book is an amazing story that can chill you to the bone. You really need to get this book and read it. R. L. Stine knows just the
