Overview

The band that took pop punk from the stage at Gillman Street to the top of the Billboard charts, Green Day finally give their fans the DVD they've been dreaming of with Green Day: International Supervideos. Featuring all 15 of the band's music videos, Green Day: International Supervideos has been transferred in full frame (as the videos were originally shot), with the audio mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the lyrics have been closed-captioned in English. The disc offers nothing in the way of bonus features, but the improved quality of the audio and the ease with which individual videos can be accessed gives this DVD a clear advantage over the VHS edition of Green Day: International Supervideos.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Before becoming a formidable MTV presence in the '90s, Green Day enjoyed a reputation in their native Berkeley, California as the most intelligent, formidable pop-punk unit around. Like so many bands, they clearly draw the bash-and-crackle sounds of punks, proto- and otherwise (the Buzzcocks, the Ramones, the early Who, the Sex Pistols, the Jam). Green Day makes its own music, though, and it's unnervingly good. Each of their 18 videos is on this video, from the breakthrough "Longview" clip to "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)," which gorgeously underlines workaday angst with innovative stop-motion camera effects. Perhaps the funniest one of the bunch is "Nice Guys Finish Last," which remodels a Green Day gig as an old, turgid NFL film. The tracks are as follows, with original albums in parentheses:
  • Longview (Dookie)
  • Basket Case (Dookie)
  • When I Come Around (Dookie)
  • Geek Stink Breath (Insomniac)
  • Stuck With Me (the International Superhits! CD)
  • Brain Stew/Jaded (Insomniac)
  • Walking Contradiction (Insomniac)
  • Hitchin' A Ride (Nimrod)
  • Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) (Nimrod)
  • Redundant (Nimrod)
  • Nice Guys Finish Last (Nimrod)
  • Last Ride In (Nimrod)
  • Minority (Warning)
  • Warning (Warning)
  • Waiting (Warning)
