A really good film

I feel bad for "Hancock" because it was released in the same season as all the other super hero movies. It would have gotten so much more attention had it not been. Will Smith's perfromance shows that he is a great actor with an incredible range of emotion. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and as the first reviewer said, the twist did shock me. It was great and very unexpected. As for the second reviwer, how can you be so ignorant? This is not the 1960s. Movies are not made to appeal to white audiences or black audiences. Get with the times, there's no room for discrimination anymore. Also, Hancock is NOT like Superman at all. It's much better.

Deserves far more credit than it gets! Outstanding!

This movie has been much maligned and, from many reviews I read, by people who didn't even watch it. Will Smith and Charlize Theron bring all of the emotional range of their Oscar caliber roles to this film. The story is solid in spite of complaints that the "twist" makes no sense (it makes perfect sense if you listen to the dialogue.) The acting, writing and directing are top notch all around. The effects are well done, with a couple of spots that affect the suspension of disbelief a bit much but are more than forgivable. Well worth owning and a credit to Will Smith and all involved. As for it containing superhero cliches', well, yes. It's a comedy, yet it goes well beyond that, and the superhero framework is a part of that.
Also, with regard to the second reviewer here: 1) It is difficult to take seriously a person you spells Superman as Supper Man. 2) Using &qoute instead of just " does not make you appear any smarter. 3) Your bigot is showing, big time!

    Great Entertainment

Will Smith and Charlize Theron, excellent special effects, original story and a super twist - what's not to like? To the reviewer comparing this to Superman with a black star: are you for real?

    Good Movie

This movie was really good and I knew there was a twist somewhere but when It finally came I was still shocked. Will Smith did a good job in this film and the critics were a little too harsh on it. It was definently no Dark Knight or Ironman but it was still a good superhero film that didnt follow the usual cliches and plots of most comic book movies. Id buy this one.

    Hancock has it

I went to Hancock with my family & cousins. It was an amazing movie to watch. It caught my attention the whole way through the movie. Hancock is about a superhero (John Hancock) and he is drunken a lot, and out of shape. When he fights crime he doesn't do it the way he should. He saved this guy. That guy wanted to help Hancock become the hero he should be. Hancock goes through a lot, then their is a twist, and a nail-bitting ending!
Unfortanly, Iron Man and Tons of other superhero movies also came out. Which made Hancock not have the best of reviews. Now to me I think its almost better than Iron Man. This isn't any SuperHero Black. Its not SuperHero at all!
I would suggest Hancock to people who like Science Fiction/Catches your attention. These are two good combinations that make a great movie. If you like Iron Man you will love this movie, but even better. Hancock would make a great gift for anyone.
The Setting is today just like in any City. Not in the 1950's or 1960's. Will Smith acted amazing in this movie. I fell in love with his acting and this movie.
Hancock deserves five stars. Hancock has it!

    Fun movie

Overall a pretty fun movie. The only downside is that the plot makes a detour about half way through. The first time watching the movie it was kind of hard to follow along. Watching it again it wasn't a big deal and was great to watch. It's a different kind of super hero movie without being based on a comic book, which I liked.

    Qualitiy

HANCOCK has the quality of a made for tv movie--in plot, direction, and poorly done special effects. It stars the fresh prince of Bel-Air and Charlize Theron, a usually exceptional actress who must have been very desperate to accept a role in this career ending film. Oh yeah, Jason Bateman is in it, too. 'Nuff said.

    Superman ripoff designed for blacks

Typical Hollywood ripoff of the classic Supper Man story line except with a &quot twist&quot and repackaged for a black audience because its star is black.
