I think Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was the movie most faithful to the book. I think the 3 main actors are great, and they're still great in the later movies, but in the first one they were unknown (and I think they looked more like their characters should) so when you see them at that age it's like they really are their characters and it just adds to the overall effect of a great movie.

This is bound to be another best seller. First the books, then it's in theaters, and soon to be on DVD and VHS! I can't wait to buy the DVD, and take my personal tour through Hogwarts!

This movie was amazing and outstanding all at the same time. To me it was just like the book except for a little bit of things that I did not see, but other than that this movie was off the chang. I loved it my mama loved it and it was the bomb. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a movie that you have to see. I thought that the director chose the right actors to play Harry, Ron and everybody else. I love Harry Potter and this movie was the most astonishing movie to see.

I enjoyed this movie. I have read all four or the Harry Potter books. The movie follows the book so well. I don't think I have ever seen a movie that has followed the book as well as this one. No, they didn't put every little detail in it. The movie would be way to long if they did that. Worth seeing and owning. I can't wait for the next movie or book.

The plot is very exciting and suspenseful! Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are very talented. You can enjoy this movie even if you haven't read the books. I just saw the last one in theaters, and the day after I saw it, I watched this movie. I'm SO sad these movies are over! :-(
If you haven't already watched this, please do!! You'll love them-I've never met a person who doesn't, I'm not joking!

I have seen this movie multiple times over the years and it is fantastic! Although the actors are still fairly young and inexperienced I feel that they do a great job portraying the characters that JK Rowling envisioned in her books!

i understand that movies when this one bearly came out they were cheesy. But when i saw this movie it was too much. The director captured the book correctly but i just think that it could have been cooler and people wouldn't make fun of harry potter so much. I like the new director better he seems more experienced(in my opinion).

J.K. Rowling
One of the characters of this story is Harry Potter. Harry's parents
died when he was a baby. Some giant on a motorcycle gave a family to Harry. When he got older he started getting letters from owls. One day they got so many letters from the owls they moved to a hut type of thing and a giant came. It was the same person that gave Harry a family. The giant told Harry he was a wizard but couldn't beieve it.
The setting ws in the past when Harry was a baby.
The plot was Harry started doing stuff that couldn't be explained and then he ended up going to a school for Wizards called Hogwarts.
I kinda liked the book but I didn't like it because I don't like wizards and stuff but it was a pretty good book for not liking that stuff.
I couln't really think of anything that really connected me to the book.

I bought this movie because of the British Shakespearean actors and actresses that appear.

I watched it for the first time when I was 8, my younger siblings (currently aged 6, 8, and 11) have loved it for years, and I still love it at age 13. I could watch it over and over - in fact, I do! You'll love it. Great for everyone. You can also really learn from the characters. Enjoy!

I am re-watching the first 4 movies, in anticipation of seeing the 5th movie this weekend. I pulled " The Sorcerer's Stone" from my collection, and this dvd is the 2 disc widescreen edition. With over 100 reviews already, I will not rehash the plot. Besides watching the movie, I watched most of the extra's on the dvd. On the first disc is the movie, plus a cast/crew section. I thought I would get a more thorough bio on the main stars, but it was a basic "Professor Snape: Alan Rickman". I would have liked so see a bio with the movies the main actors had been in previously. Rickman and Coltrane were so good as Snape and Hagrid, that I wanted to catch them in some other movies. Oh well. There was also a teaser trailer and a theatre trailer. The second disc had most of the extra's. I enjoyed the tour of the Hogwart's Mansion, but wish they would have showed more. I also enjoyed the conversation with the production staff about bringing the movie to life from the book. The 2nd disc is very interactive, and each section has many subsections. Very cool! The movie was awesome both visually, character-wise, and plot wise. There is alot of book to put in one movie. My overall grade for the DVD would be a 5 for the movie and a 4 for the Dvd extras!

Okay, first off, this movie was fascinating and all. I love the books. When this movie came out in 2001, I loved it, but I was in third grade, and I was stupid. Now that I'm fourteen, I have to say this movie is pretty bad. My favorite one (and stay in your seats) is Prisoner of Azkaban. (Stop complaining) Stone's direction to this movie is cheesy. There's some really corny parts in here. And most of all is Daniel Radcliffe's acting. My god! Has he acted before? All the other characters had good casting. Radcliffe looks like Harry, but he can't seem to take that prescence of a curious boy becoming a wizard into the film. But I have to say, Radcliffe does get better in each film so I'm not sitting there half the time rolling my eyes with his wooden acting. One of the only things that save this film is John Williams musical score. A movie that could have been told better has a little bit of magic in it.
