Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
Like the mid-‘70s hit McMillan & Wife, this early-‘80s TV staple entertained TV viewers with its breezy imitation of the old Thin Man movies. Hart to Hart actually came a lot closer to the Nick and Nora Charles characters played by William Powell and Myrna Loy, even giving its protagonists matching monograms: Jonathan Robert Wagner and Jennifer Hart Stefanie Powers, a self-made millionaire and his glamorous wife, a freelance part-time journalist. For lowbrow comedy relief, producers Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg added to the cast venerable character actor Lionel Stander, who portrayed the Harts' gravel-voiced butler/cook/chauffeur and world-class kibitzer. Richard B. Shull represented the long arm of the law as Lieutenant Gillis, a well-meaning police detective always finding the Harts enmeshed in a murder. The series got off to a strong start with the 22 episodes of the 1979-80 season, collected in this new box set. The first show, "Hit Jennifer Hart," found the couple's distaff member subjected to a series of near-fatal "accidents" for mysterious reasons. Ms. Hart faced further perils in "Color Jennifer Dead," in which she stumbled onto murder in high society's arty crowd after posing for a portrait intended as a gift to Jonathan. An old Nero Wolfe mystery novel inspired "Too Many Cooks Are Murder," which guest-starred '50s film sexpot Corinne Calvet in a yarn about slayings at a gourmet cooking class. Our personal favorite among this season's shows is "Night Horror," an old-fashioned, dark-house mystery about a treasure hunt conducted in a haunted mansion. Floridly melodramatic but lighthearted, it captures the essence of Hart to Hart better than perhaps any other Season 1 episode.

    Great show, good clean fun!!!

This show started out good and got better. The plot lines are good, and the acting is great. There are only a few profanities, which is a nice change from today's shows. I love the way they treat each other.

Hart 2 Hart Fans can rejoice

Finally, Hart2Hart on DVD. We fans have waited too long. This first set is impressive with its 6 disks decorated with great pix. The featurette is good - wish there were more bloopers. Includes the pilot plus 22 episodes. Lots and lots of viewing for the die hard fans.

    The Harts are back!

Here come the Harts. I had never seen this show before but I'm glad I have now. Jonathan and Jennifer take detective work to a new level, solving crimes without the authority to do so. The shows all revolve around the same premise, the Harts are in the right place at the right time, for a crime. Sounds O.K.? It's alot better than OK, this show is fantastic. The Harts keep the shows interesting by their great acting, and the chemistry between them. I am looking forward to the release of season two. Their hobby----murder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
