All Movie Guide - Matthew Tobey
Much can be said about the career of Robert Downey Jr., but the one thing that can never be denied is the fact that, no matter what the project, he always puts everything into his role. Chaplin comes to mind and even Only You could support the idea, but perhaps no film illustrates Downey's ethos better than Heart and Souls. From a slightly above-average script and adequate direction from Ron Underwood, Downey almost single-handedly turns the film into a memorable and satisfying effort. As Thomas, a role any other actor could easily get away with phoning in, Downey turns in an Oscar-worthy performance that often outshines the film itself. Additionally, credit must also be given to the ensemble that make up Thomas' ever-present heavenly entourage. Alfre Woodard, Charles Grodin, Tom Sizemore, and Kyra Sedgwick bring the sort of effectiveness to their supporting roles that audiences have come to expect from them. Heart and Souls probably should have just been a pretty good movie, but with another marvel of a turn by Robert Downey Jr., it's nearly great.

Hearts and Souls is by far one of my favorite Robert Downy Jr. movies! It shows his lighter, funnier side, the one not none to many people who do not follow his career, and just know him from Iron Man! He's witty, contagious, and charming in his role as Thomas Reilly! This movie is a story of a young boy who is followed around by 4 spirits, none of which know why they are stuck to this young boy! After disappearing one night, they reappear in his 30's only to cause mayhem and ruin his almost perfect life. All this to learn one life lesson he won't regret! Worthy mentions are the supporting actors, who do such a fabulous job in their perspective roles... Charles Grodin, Kyra Segdwick, Alfre Woodard and Tom Sizemore! This movie will warm your heart and soul! It did mine!

I saw this movie for the first time years ago. It is the most moving story about loving today and everyday. About what if you don't get another chance. How so many people we meet contribute to our lives and to tell them everyday how much you care. It also has some wonderful sub messages about Gods compassion.

This movie really touched my inter being. It was a very delightful tale of some souls trapped on earth. It brought laughter to my lips and a tear to my eyes.

SO SPIRITUALLY INSPIRING! JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW MUCH WE TAKE BEING HUMAN FOR GRANTED; FORGETTING TO RECOGNIZE THAT OUR GREATEST ASSET IS OUR SOUL. WE TRUELY LIVE ON JOURNEYS OF BORROWED TIME BECAUSE THE REAL "TIME OF OUR LIVES" IS RETURNING TO THAT WHICH WAS INTENDED....PURE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IN THE FORM OF SOUL.

Have seen this in the show when it came out at least 6 times. Took different friends each time and they raved. The little boy who plays Robert Downey Jr's part as a child is fantastic and his rendition of Walk like a man in the boys bathroom is tear-raising laughter.

I Love this movie, that's why I ordered it. Unfortunately, when the package arrived and I eagerly opened it, inside was someone else's Baby book. I got a refund, but am still waiting for my Dvd. Oh Well.
