Overview

Ron Perlman returns to the role of the big red BPRD agent in this sequel to 2004's Hellboy, directed once again by Guillermo del Toro and scripted as before in collaboration with original Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. For centuries, an ancient truce has kept the naïve citizens of the human race safe from the horrors of the invisible realm -- but that's all about to change, and fast. A ruthless leader has emerged in the invisible realm, a tyrant just as comfortable walking the surface realm as he is living in the land of fantasy. When this power-mad ruler defies his bloodline to assemble an unstoppable army of fantastical creatures that he will use to wage a supernatural war on humanity, it begins to appear that humankind's days are numbered. But Hellboy Perlman isn't about to stand idly by as the planet is purged by a demonic despot, and with a little help from his team at the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, he may just be able to send our otherworldly overlords packing. Of course, Hellboy's pyrokinetic girlfriend, Liz Selma Blair, is always willing to conjure up an inferno or two when things get desperate, aquatic Abe Doug Jones is prepared to dive headlong into any battle, and protoplasmic mystic Johann voice of Thomas Kretschmann proves an invaluable companion in times of inter-dimensional conflict. Now, as the creatures who inhabit the spiritual realm gear up for an all-out attack on the human plane, the only one capable of saving the Earth is a tough-talking hellspawn rejected by both worlds.

    I Also Recommend:

An Action movie that's Gorgeous too. . .

Guillermo del Toro, the director of Hellboy II, knows how to make absolutely stunning films. He is also the director of Pan's Labrynth, a movie which is absolutely gorgeous, but the subject matter is alittle too outside my comfort zone for multiple viewings. In Hellboy II he brought all his artistry to a mainstream audience and he's created a masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, its not just a pretty picture. Unlike so many other action films that rely on cool cgi to get an audience, this story is so very well developed, the plot is very engaging. And as a sequel it holds its own, meaning you don't have to necessarily see the first one to figure out what's going on, and it actually might be better than the first. I throw this in anytime, for just about any audience, from my young nephews to golf loving husbands to persons just hanging out.

    Better than the first one.

Far more exciting than the first - watch out for the fireflies or faeries. Cute in spots. Funny in spots. The grandson (18) says it's too predictable and not much plot. We "old folks" just liked the excitement and pace.

    Silly Family Movie

Some scenes are better suited for older kids however its a clean enough movie for even the younger boys to watch. Not on my top personal favs however for the entire family to watch together - which is the most important thing - this movie will do.

    love the director

Guillermo del Toro does it again...his creatures in all of his movies look so real and true...and the people he gets to play them are amazing! Especially since he uses alot of the same actors to play in his movies...so the combo of them and the director makes it worth it to see!

    I Also Recommend:

A sequel that outdoes the original.

Like "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Godfather Part II", ¿The Golden Army¿ outshines it's somewhat lackluster predecessor. The story is tighter, the characters more interesting, and the scope much more epic. This is fantasy at its best, with remarkable visuals, fun irreverence, and lots of action. Fans of Hellboy, adventure, and Sci-Fi/Fantasy in general will be happy with this film. Definitely worth seeing.

    AN ACTION PACKED FANTASY FILM!!!

Hellboy 2? Visually cool and dark. I liked it more than the first because it rases the question: will Hellboy always fight for us or will someday down the future will he change his mind? Great acting, good humor, and well thought of plot. Glad to have seen it and to own it.

Hoping for hellboy 3 and more

The battle scenes were outstanding, I simply loved the scene where Hellboy and Abe were drinking and singing. John Hurt is a great actor and wish that he could have had more of a part in the movie.

    I Also Recommend:

    Hellboy hits it again!

Hellboy 2 continues the story of Hellboy and his work with a paranormal agency. He is still surrounded by friends and a new leader who reminds me of the Brain of Morbius from Doctor Who. What transpires during the film is a battle of the Earth between Humans and Elves/Goblins/Ogres/Trolls, and Humans are almost wiped out by the Elves Golden Army of giant robots. But in a moment of compassion the King of the Elves decides to not finish off the remaining Humans and calls a truce that Humans may build their cities but leave the forests to the Elves and Trolls. Years pass and humans have forgotting the truce and have taking over to much of the Elves and Trolls land. The prince of the Elves has decided his Father is to weak to do anything about the Humans and decides it's time to wake the Golden Army again.
Filled with tons of action and a mean twist on what it is like to be different, Hellboy 2 delivers the goods.
Also included are the following special features: 6 deleted scenes, Troll Market Tour, Commentary, set visits and an epilogue animated comic.
