Overview

Harsh terrain and a tenacious aggressor characterize the one-hour History Undercover: The Bloody Aleutians. After hitting Pearl Harbor, the Japanese forces tried to distract Americans with an attack on the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. However, strong national resistance and inclement weather hampered the campaign. Despite the difficulty of the situation, both sides considered the Islands an important outpost. The Japanese especially needed a victory after their defeat at Midway. Combat footage and interviews with survivors help recreate this desolate battlefield. ~ Sarah Ing
