I read the book with my fourth grade class last year and after two chapters I had to buy a copy myself so I could read ahead. After I finished the book I rented the movie and I thought it was almost as outstanding as the book. I put this movie #1 on my favorite movies list.
This is a fantastic movie. To be quite honest there was a second there where i didnt want to see it, but when i finally went to see it i found it was exactly the opposite of what i thought. You see what i thought was that the movie was going to stray from the whole point of the book, BUT surprisingly it didn't! I was amazed about how the movie stayed so close to the book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! A MUST SEE! GO! GO! BUY!
My mom and I read the book together and thought the book was worth getting the Newberry Award. After reading the book, we thought that since we were finished with the book, we might as well watch the movie. Unlike most movies based on books, I discovered the movie was so close to the book. I learned that nothing is a coincidence, but every single thing in life happens because of destiny. If you are searching for a terrific movie that teaches you moral value, I strongly suggest Holes.
Its about a boy sent out to the camp were they dig for treasure. it is based on a book and it is good.
This is the perfect movie for the whole family. You have to watch this movie carefully from the beginning to fully understand it. I had to watch it three or four times in order to understand the plot, because I have not read the book. But I did enjoy the movie. What I like most about it are the boys' catchy nicknames. They each had a nickname to suit their personalities. I highly recommend it.
I did not read the book but intend to some day. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was an entertaining movie. I am not sure that younger children would enjoy it as it would be kind of scary to them about kids going to a prison camp where they dig holes. I did like the cast and liked Signourney Weaver and Jon Voight in the cast. It ends up being a story about kids versus the adults. It really makes you appreciate your life that we aren't having to dig holes in a prison camp. Overall it was a very good movie that I would recommend.
I thought this movie was soo good. We read the book in class, and saw the play yesterday as a school field trip, too! The movie is exactly like the book and did you know... Louis Sachar was on the set of the movie??? Another thing is that if you didn't understand the book, the movie had a better way of understanding! I had to get the DVD after I saw it at achool!:)
This movie was OK. I don't see why everyone is obsessing over it. It was pretty good, but I didn't really enjoy it. 5/10 and B- grade
I saw the movie and loved it so much that I wished that I had read the book. I watched the movie, Holes, with my sister and two nephews (5 and 8 years old). We all thought that Holes was wonderful, so I had to read the book. The movie stays very true to the book with very few differences. It has many twists and turns and always keeps you guessing. I love how everything comes together towards the end of the movie and leaves no loose ends. I recommend this movie for children and adults a like since I¿m 25 and thoroughly enjoyed it.
i was watching this yesterday b/c i've never actually seen the entire thing. in fourth grade, i remember reading the book and this is one of those rare instances where the movie doesn't completely suck when put up against the book. both are awesome and i highly recommend them.
Followed the book exactly, except stanley was slim in the beginning
Disney's holes is a great movie but the novel is better. The Caveman is my favorite guy in disney's holes he rocks.Disney's holes is the best.
When i saw the movie holes i was in awe, man the charactors where great especially Khleo Thomas, he couldn't have done a better job, and also Shia Labeouf! I just couldn't have loved zero more!
This movie is one of the few I've seen in a long time that stays close to the books version of things. If anyone is interested the book is also called Holes and it is written by Louis Sachar and you should read it before you watch the movie because they do leave out some details that might cause a few head scrathces. Or if you have already seen the movie you could read it anyway for fun. But this movie is one that should be added to any collection because it is one you can enjoy until you have kids and they can share the fun.
Holes is a great movie and a great book. Whats great about the movie is that it is just like the book unlike many movies. The film is just so terrific!! It's a must see for kids and adults alike.
When I decided to see this movie, I hadn't read the book yet, so I wasn't sure how it would be. But this movie was excellent. Even my 18 year old sister enjoyed it. It had many good parts and it was also suspenseful. I highly recommend this movie to anyone. I can't wait for this movie to come on dvd, and I keep asking everyone if they've seen it, and to see it because it's just so good
I loved the movie Holes. I especially loved it because it was so close to the book and so filed with excitement and adventure. It was about a boy named Stanley Yelnats that goes to Camp Green Lake and has the adventure of your life. I would reccomend reading the book first. I hope you enjoy this title as much as me!
I loved this movie. Although it was lengthy and complex, it really kept me interested. The great thing about this movie is that despite the knowledge from the book, you aren't ahead of the story, you stay with it until it ties together at the end. Shia LeBouf was great in this, he is so talented! The star-studded cast and the new faces was a plus as well
This movie was really good! It was even better because I'm a big Shia LaBeouf fan so that was great. The way they presented the story with the flashbacks was really great and it was really interesting to watch. This movie isn't good for anyone under 12 or 13 because they probably wouldn't understand most of it. It's a more mature Disney movie so just because it's rated PG doesn't mean that little kids should go to it.
