Even though the perpetrator took his own life after committing the crimes, the townspeople still want to find some answers. Detective Martin Van Zandt (Victor Garber) decides to interrogate high school student Alicia Browning (Busy Philipps), who was present during the attack. Because of her cynical attitude and dark fashion choices, she is viewed as a possible threat. Principal Robbins (James Pickens Jr.) sentences her to regular hospital visits with the pretty and popular Deanna Cartwright (Erika Christensen), who was seriously injured in the attack. Alicia and Deanna overcome their initial differences and develop a nurturing friendship with psychological help from Dr. Hollander (Holland Taylor).

    Nothing short of brilliant

Well acted. Busy phillips, erica christensen, and victor garber kick @$$ . The film was filled with laughts drama and hidden morals. As you might think that this like all stories about two people who are different but become friends somehow, its different. Its an unusual and dark friendship and the way they become friends is different than I have ever seen of film before. The film however briefs over 1-minute thouts why school shooting happen, i have to agree with the review above, that it does not clearly explain why, but if you use your mind, iam sure you figure out why. This movie is a true winner in my opinion. I highly recomend it. I did learn a few things. (the morgue scene)

    Totally Contrived Movie

I had the misfortune of seeing this movie not too long ago and I thought that it totally sucked. Not only is the premise contrived to the point that you learn nothing why school shootings occur, but the movie also seemed like a long, slow torture process.

    Moving

'Home Room' was an intense and amazingly acted film. The characters' stories and their development was truly gripping. I highly recommend this movie to anyone; especially those who are interested in how people deal with such trials and tribulations as school shootings and other life changing events. I cannot describe how moving this movie was for me; it is, by far, the best I've ever seen.
