The Best Historical High Sea Adventures Ever Produced

I haven't been this impressed with a series in all my 54 years of watching TV and movies as I am impressed with Horatio Hornblower. I am thankful that I discovered this series while on vacation because it is impossible to view just one. The Visual impact is so real I could almost smell the sea, blood and sweat. The acting was so real I had to pace through many of the scenes. You have to get this series! It is money well spent.

    As Brilliant as Sharpe

This is one of the best historical dramas ever made. It follows the books pretty well and is made to the very high standards we have come to expect from a british period film. It rates alongside the adventures of Richard Shapre in the quality of the story, production and cast.

The best made for TV series I've ever watched!!!

I've watched all of the Hornblower series, more than once. They are first rate. Great characters and story line set within a historical backdrop. I recommend them and hope that they continue to add to the series. I'm hooked!!

    BEST MOVIES EVER!

I have found that I have enjoyed very few naval war movies better then the Horatio Hornblower movies, the acting is amazing, the story outstanding, I was moved to tears several times, and started clapping madly at others. A WONDERFUL SERIES FOR ANYBODY WHO WANTS A GREAT MOVIE TO WATCH! If you like romance, historical fiction, or just a good movie, it statifies them all.

Excellent if you like adventure stories/movies

Fantastic entertainment if you like the kind of movies dealing with sailships, old fashioned naval war etc. I got this first from the library and had to see just one to get hooked onto the entire series. Well directed and acted.
