A cop looking for a quieter way of life is thrown into the most dangerous crisis of his life in this thriller based on the novel by Robert Crais. Jeff Talley (Bruce Willis) used to be a hostage negotiator with the Los Angeles Police Department, but after a standoff goes horribly wrong, Talley moves himself and his family to a small, quiet town of Bristo Camino, where he serves as chief of police. When three young criminals attempt to steal a car from a wealthy accountant, the situation quickly spins out of control and the thieves are trapped inside the heavily fortified home, taking the accountant and his family hostage. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department soon arrives on the scene, and Talley eagerly hands over the situation to them, but when he unexpectedly finds himself in telephone contact with one of the children inside, he begins to suspect that the cops are in over their heads. After he's approached by a masked stranger who has an agenda of his own, Talley is forced to decide if he should protect the safety of the family in the house or his own wife and kids. Hostage was the first English-language film from director Florent Emilio Siri.
The mechanics of the final showdown are unexpected and yet show an undeniable logic, and are sold by the acting skills of Willis and Pollak.

FANASTIC MOVIE WITH GOOD ACTING
Bruce Willis is at his best again here. Edge of the seat action. This release ranks among my favorites of all of the action flicks released in the past few months. I like action movies that won't allow you to "nod off" while viewing. This one fills the bill.
This movie is Bruce Willis doing what he does best. Top-notch thriller.
I decided against seeing this movie because my local paper gave it a really bad review and I am trying to be a good steward of my cash flow and pick movies that are worth paying $9.25 to see. I wish I had paid to see this one instead of renting it. The story was one that I've seen before, but the twists were fresh and unique. For a 1st time director, Florent Siri really did an excellent job with the noir aspects of the film. Bruce Willis could have phoned in this performance because he's done it before, but I saw a true desire to get the authenticity down right and the end scene has him giving one of the most honest performances I have ever seen from him. He has really turned into a fine actor.
It is simply the best movie ever. You NEEEED to see HOSTAGE. When Mars gets a pocket-knife through his throat, it's awsome. Use this reveiw and BUY THIS movie. But if you have kids, don't let them watch it. It probably says the F-WORD in every sentence. And yes people get shot in the head and there is blood. Alot of blood too. A guy also abuses marrijjuna. But I still LOVVE it. Hope YA buy IT.
This movie is awsome. The acting is cool and the plot is amazing! I advise you to SEE this movie. It is violent and it had a lot of people brutally murderd such as, shot in head, pocket knifes, and bare hands. It has a large amount of offensive language. It doesn't have any nudity, it has very brief drug use. But i still LOVE this movie. I give it a HIGH 5 stars. I hope you find this review helpful.
This one was really good. I saw a side of Ben Foster I'd never seen. It was full of suspense and I kept watching. Bruce Willis was really good in here. The whole movie was good. The plot had a little bit of parts that were left out, but if you would come in on the middle of the movie, you would watch it till the end.
Hostage was a really good movie. Bruce Willis did a great job as former hostage negotiator Jeff Talley. It had an intresting plot, good actors, great action, good suspense and good stroyline. I'll give this movie an A with two thumbs up added to it.
