Barnes & Noble - Bill Pearis
Gregory House Hugh Laurie is not your average TV doctor. Though he's unquestionably brilliant, his bedside manner lies somewhere between indifference and disdain. He would prefer not to talk to his patients at all, actually, because while "First, do no harm" are words that most doctors live by, House believes in another edict: "All patients lie." They lie about how bad they actually feel, they lie about where they were when they first felt sick, they lie about their own bad habits. House would rather the symptoms to speak for themselves. His gruff demeanor stems, in part, from the constant pain he endures from a misdiagnosed embolism in his leg that has left him with a limp and an addiction to painkillers. Working at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, where he has cushy tenure, House only takes on cases that interest him -- and even then he does so begrudgingly. Helping him is his team of talented young specialists: Dr. Eric Foreman Omar Epps, a neurologist with a troubled past; Dr. Robert Chase Jesse Spencer, an Australian who seems to constantly be ducking his privileged upbringing; and immunologist Dr. Allison Cameron Jennifer Morrison who sparks with the emotionally distant House. Robert Sean Leonard plays oncologist James Wilson, seemingly House's only friend, and Lisa Edelstein is department head Dr. Cuddy, whose verbal sparring with House is one of the show's consistent highlights. As fascinating as each week's baffling case is, this FOX show's appeal rests entirely on Laurie's mesmerizing lead performance. The biting humor and humanity he brings to this hard-to-like character made this a late-blooming hit for FOX in 2005 and garnered Laurie a well-deserved Emmy nomination -- and they make this set of House's debut season as mandatory as doctor's orders.

    House MD

House is a series of shows based on medical drama which if you follow you will notice the uniqueness of each of the characters. As the story develops it is portrayed by a diagnostics team run by Dr. Gregory House who everyone loathes for his unorthodox diagnostic approaches and sometimes unsympathetic attitude towards his patients however, he is the only doctor who can treat illnesses that other doctors cannot possibly accomplish. People think that house is just cruel but his is a man who acts vindictive without showing his true colors Its a Very Fun Cool Tv show and its worth your Money

Hugh Laurie is a great actor . . . too bad about the rest of the show.

This gets two stars on the strength of Laurie's acting alone but any more than that would lead people to believe I like this show and that is not the case. It is somewhat unnusual to have a character as flawed and smart as House in a TV show but there are others that have been much more well-rounded. Other people have criticized the background characters. To call them 'background characters' is really the best description since they all have the staying power of wallpaper. That's not to say the acting is bad, the supporting actors just aren't given much to work with. First they're skeptical of house then they bow before his superior intellect. Which leads me to my biggest gripe: Once you've seen the first episode, you've pretty much seen them all. I realize that medical drama doesn't allow for a lot of versatility as far as plotting goes but it feels like the writers just took a plot formula, threw an interchangeable and extremely rare illness into the mix to make House curious and then made the victim connect to one of background characters. Of course, its a different background character each week (even House might connect to someone once in a blue moon). There are better shows out there with similar but much more fleshed out characters (&quot Cracker&quot comes to mind). I don't say this because I hate the show (okay maybe I do a little bit), I just thought it could have been A LOT better.

Hugh Laurie is the sexiest man ever!!

"House" is hands down the best show on TV! It's wonderfully written, the characters are spectacular, and Mr. Laurie is the greatest leading man. Hot doctor and good plots...you cant get any better than this.

    unbeleivable talent

House is the best show ever aired, and i mean that. the wit is outstanding, house can pull anything off! medical not for you? focus on the ever-suspenseful, always changing relationships between the dooctors. Drama not for you? focus on the intensely interesting and unique diagnosis. neither for you? focus on the fall-off-your-chair hillarious dialouge: its much funnier than other cheesy comedies. house is a yes. P.S.: i had to get this because i couldn't live through the commercials on TV. BUY IT!

My heart belongs to Dr. House.

Dr. House is a sarcastic, cranky doctor who is hooked on vicodin, and his bedside manners are lacking. But anyone who is as cute as Dr. House doesn't need bedside manners. I absolutely love this show. I can't get enough of Dr. House.

    What an addicting show!

I can't get over how addicting this show is! It's so cool, I can't get enough. The lead guy who plays Dr. House does an extroardinary job. He should win an award for his performance. If you're lookin' for a good show get into, House.

    Well done House!!!!!!.

watching house for me, has been wonderful. I cannot wait for the release of the 2nd season. I am greatly amazed at how the producers really have new episodes every week which are very helpful to me as a graduate nurse. I recommend that all in the medical field watch it. It is like an everyday review for us all. Welldone, House!

    HOUSE ROCKS!!!

I am 100% addicted to this show. I saw it once and then couldn't stop watching. Hugh's performance makes this show unbelievable!!! Without him you would just plain hate House for acting the way he does. But Hugh knows exactally how to play the character without making it too much, and yet House is still as intellegent and cold as you would expect him to be.

    Medical Students for HOUSE!

I love HOUSE and I watch the show almost every wekk. As other reviewers have said, the acting and storylines are all first rate. However, the medicine and thought processes are outstanding! I watched the first season as a "study break/study aid" for my board exams. It honestly helped flesh out some of the weird and rare diseases we're tested on. I'll never forget them, thanks to Dr. House.
