The texas chainsaw massacre was this movies inspiration. You can easily tell because of how it was put together. The opening, the climax, all of it was so original and new. Rob Zombie difinatly deserves a spot in horror movie history just for this hour and 28 minutes of maddness and brilliance. I belive this movie is the next TCM. Loads of gore, twisted story, and jsut plain macabe in this movie. Great horror title, a must see

Ok....But not great

The Texas Chainsaw Mas...er...House of 1000 Corpses was well put together and the cinematography was excellent. However it was the spitting image of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I don't know about you but I expected more creativity from a guy who has a name like Zombie. I did think it had comical value, there's no character more colorful than Captain Spalding but this is nothing to brag about. Don't take my word for it see it for yourself and formulate your own opinion

i love this movie!! very good with the gore and stuff.... and alot of humor to it too... good story line and rob zombie is great at these movies!!! also check out devils Rejects cuz it the second movie to this and it also is funny and has alot of gore and stuff to it....

BEST HORROR

ITs great,nothing funny about it,It could happen to you---Its one of the best horror, for us horror fans looking for a scare...Theres no humor in any of it.......To devoted fans of horror,its a crazy creepy flick.Its # 2 on my list if you are looking for that weekend horror fix,like me.Its truly gory too,in case you just want scary without the gore,then pass......I dont like gore fests,but the story here is worth the gory parts......Dont go driving around back roads at night,or at all.

I dont understand why ppl get so up in arms about a movie... yea ok so maybe it wasnt a hollywood masterpiece, but it was a great entertaining movie.. it brought back the humor and silliness that is b-movies... its not ment to be taken serious, from baby's cheer or otis and his hick look to cap spalding's fried chicken... its all tounge and cheek and i loved every min of it... i love Rob Zombie as a director and musician...

Who will survive and what will be left of them?

I saw part of this film and it was really weird and scary. I remember Karen Black from Airport 77 as a cute, slightly cross-eyed stewardess. In this film she's a slightly cross-eyed psychopath. Whoa! That's quite a change. I love Rob Zombie and his former group White Zombie, and from listening to his music, this has Rob Zombie written all over it. A lot of people are criticizing this film, calling it, among other things, a waste of time. What is truly a waste of time is reading reviews, especially negative ones, written by people who can't spell. Who is anyone is to criticize others when he or she can't even use proper grammar? So, the guy loves old horror movies and named his band after an old movie. What's wrong with that? Everything comes from something. Even Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes was taken from a line in MacBeth. But, I digress. Whether or not you like horror movies, watch this one and see the genius of Rob Zombie at work, Karen Black play creepy, and cute Sheri Moon sing - or did she lip-synch? - I Wanna Be Loved By You. But please don't watch this as mindless entertainment. You won't get anything out of it. Note to self: Buy and watch the whole movie.

bEST moViE

This is a great movie the only thing better then it is Devils Rejects only because the ending is more realistic then house. I love Rob Zombie annd his wife Sheri moon is about one of my favorite actresses lets hope she makes more movies she plays a phyco quite well. If there were more then a 5 star rateing then i would give it a 10.

Nothing more than a bad rip-off

I gave this movie one star only because they don't offer a zero star rating. The movie is a rip-off (a bad one at that) of numerous horror movies, but mostly The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The most original thing about it is the title, but what more can you expect from someone who named his band after an old Bela Lugosi film & wrote a song about the car from The Munsters. Even Capt. Spaulding (the most liked character) is a rip-off (the name at least). The name Capt. Spaulding was the name of a character played by Groucho Marx in a Marx Bros. film. Dr. Satan is obviously a rip-off of Dr. Vannacut from the remake of The House on Haunted Hill. The name Dr. Satan was nothing more than a pathetic way of having the name Satan in the movie. A true Horror movie (not slasher movie) fan would not appreciate this movie. It's a waste of time & money. I was utterly disappointed in it & wish there was some way to get back the 1 1/2 hrs I wasted watching it. If you're looking for a good horror movie, pass this one up & find something else. 1,000 Corpses lacks originality, suspense, a decent plot, and decent acting. However, there is a decent amount of blood & gore. I guess that's supossed to make up for lacking everything else.

I don't understand...

This IS my favorite movie of all time, I just watched it again for the hundreth time the night before last. I don't understand how all people say there are bad shots that should not have been put in and all... But in an interview, that is what zombie was aming for, a B movie. Since those were his influences and a hell of a lot better than the shiny, perfect stuff now adays, he wanted to make it like an old 70's movie.

What were you guys thinking?

I will admit that I was actually looking forward to this movie coming out. Unfortunately for me I did see it and all I can say with Rob Zombie's love for the horror genre, he sure didn't put it to good use here. If you make the mistake of watching this you'll notice some just plain bad shots thrown in without edit. Like the eternally long pullback shot after the cop gets shot. Don't worry, with this movie I'm not busting any plot. I don't know how you all seemed to miss that this was a bad bootleg to the story of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. While I will give Sid Haig some credit for making at least one character worth watching as Captain Spaulding, it doesn't make weathering through this movie any easier. It was as if Rob Zombie had no idea what to due with his cast of psychopaths, as evident with the little performance they put on for their guests, and so he just went down the checklist of what has been done before. Sorry all, but at the least this movie isn't very well done. If you still insist on renting this at least make a buddy pay for it....you'll thank me later! Sorry all I had to say it. I am a diehard horror fan and even appreciate diving into a blatantly absurd horror movie, but this is beyond bad!

A VERY DISTURBING FILM

After watching this movie I realized I had never watched anything more disturbing. Being a horror movie fan, it did tend to be a lot like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that's a good movie, but so is this one. It brings in surprises around every corner and is certainly something you would expect from Zombie.

Phenomenal...

The best horror films since the 70's. Rob Zombie is beyond talented. I can't wait to see The Devil's Rejects (the sequel).

BEST movie I've ever seen! By far, this is my all time fav. I can watch this movie over and over and never get sick of it. Rob Zombie is a GENIUS for making this movie. BUY THIS!

The Classic look at Horror

Rob Zombie set his goals high with this movie and delivers. Doing so without the special affects utilized since Nightmare on Elm St. He takes us all back to the basics where pretty girls with some dopy guys and a badass get slaughtered the old fashion way. With hundreds of gallons of blood flowing throughout the movie you will surley injoy this one.

House of 1000 Corpses is a halloween fanatics wet dream and a must for any horror freak. Rob Zombie has created a truely disturbing story that is unmistakingly genius. The depth of the main villianous characters is one of the elements that make this special. You almost want these twisted guys and gals to win. Mr. Zombie has created a family that lives, breaths and kills together. They are the best example of black humor. You can't help but chuckle at the sickness behind each and every line and scene. Any Halloween fan should run to the store and buy 1000 copies of this movie. It is a living and breathing haunted house unto itself. Some have called it a rip off, some cliche. I call it an homage to all things horror and of the seventies horror genre. Well crafted and unforgettable. You will not be let down by this film if you are a true horror fan. Cheers!!! F.U.B.A.R.

Tobe Hooper was ripped off big time!

Poor Rob Zombie,he really,really wanted to make a film that would impact audiences like Hooper's 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' so he ripped off most of the entire movie.We get a group of young people going across country in the 1970's and they run into a weird family of killers and freaks,one of which wears a leather looking mask thing,and they live in a ramshackled house full of weird stuff hanging all over the place.Sound like 'TCM'? You bet ,only I was describing 'House of 1000 Corpses'.Zombie even rips off 'TCM' down to a chicken in a cage.The only thing this film doesnt have is a chainsaw so I guess even Zombie had a limit to his shoplifting. Forgeting the rip-offs this film is still a tangled mess of plots and subplots and too many boogermen to keep track off.A few limbs are hacked off but other than that the gore factor is tame and no suspense is built up and you'll not care if the weirdos or the kids win the battle.Avoid this mess like you would a kiss from the school janitor. Zombie should concentrate on making his mediocre music because he makes truly awful movies.

Just dont buy it

The plot sucked. The story was a rip-off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and many other cult classics. It just wasn't original. BUT, it had some of the best gore and special effects i've seen in a long time. Rent it, tape it, watch it, borrow it. Just dont buy it.
