4 Hours of joyful mid sixties musical performances

MPI has filled an entire DVD with four hours of glorious Sixties music. Back then, lipsinking was the trend among TV programs that featured musical artists. While it also occurs here, some performances were clearly live as when Sam¿s voice cracks while he and the Pharoahs belt out ¿Wooly Bully.¿ The Johnny Rivers rendition of Memphis is another memorable one done live. Who would have thought that the Beatles¿ manager, Brian Epstein, would be introducing Herman¿s Hermits as he does here? Simon & Garfunkel look young and tentative in their run through of ¿Homeward Bound.¿ Petula Clark sang ¿Downtown¿ as it was at the top of the charts. Nancy Sinatra does ¿Boots¿ which the younger crowd identifies with Austin Powers. Marvin Gaye, the Byrds, the Supremes and many other artists are also represented. Director Richard Lester is interviewed by Brian Epstein concerning the Beatles¿ upcoming movie we know as ¿Help.¿ All in all, it was a good four hours of sixties musical enjoyment.
