I saw this maybe two or three times in the theatres, and numerous times after that once I got my own copy on VHS. The DVD is even better with its behind-the-scenes featurette, not to mention the sound quality. Sean Connery can play Captain Kangaroo as far as I'm concerned, and he would STILL make it look WICKED COOL. I thought Alec Baldwin (before he became an SNL frequent-flyer) did a credible job as Jack Ryan, and I loved James Earl Jones as Greer. Caution: you may find yourself rooting for Sam Neill's character, and Fred Dalton Thompson has a classic line (SEE THE MOVIE and look for the scene after Ryan comes aboard the carrier Enterprise).

If Sean Connery was younger, he would have been a great Jack Ryan. But instead he is a classy, intellectual Russian submariner who wants to defect to of all places--America. Acting could have been better, but writing was supreme.

When I Veiwed the Hunt For The Red October I saw People were not lying when they said the film was good. The Acting, Script and action were excellent. The rating is PG But it should be PG-13 Becuase of all the language, including a ton of Religues Profanitys. PG-13 For Language and mild violence.

The Hunt For Red October is a classic. The performances are superb. Sean Connery gave an outstanding performance. The film is worth seeing over and over. And then there was quite a few goodlooking men in the show as well. Especially many of the Red October and Konovalov crew. Anyways the movie is too good to pass up.

There is nothing like the character interplay in this movie. All of the sceens are supurbly played and the general plot line stays very close to the book.

This my favorite film of all time. The character development made me think I know these men. Just enough edge to the film to make me wonder what happens. Action is also a 10 in this movie. Definitely a 5 star + movie.

Great storyline, lots of action, and EXPLOSIONS, EXPLOSIONS, EXPLOSIONS!!!! Sean Connery is great in the role of Ramius, but light stomached people beware. After maybe 15 minutes, someone dies and there is a sickening sound.

Hunt for Red October captures all the great elements and movements of the original Clancy novel. Though the movie goes through a somewhat hurried character and plot introduction, the overall storyline is well developed. The basic hide & seek game of submarine warfare is portrayed through the race between the US & Russian navies in locating the renegade Russian sub Cmdr, Capt. Marco Ramius.

The movie had an interesting plot and was well done. I haven't read the book but I bet it's even better.
