Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), and Diego (Denis Leary) may have made it through the big freeze, but when the ice begins to melt, the heroic trio must warn the other inhabitants of their peaceful valley of the coming flood in directors Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha's sequel to the computer-animated 2002 hit Ice Age. As the ice age winds to an end, the animals of the Earth have taken warmly to the melting paradise that surrounds them. Despite the false comfort of a lush valley teeming with vegetation, however, great danger looms just over the horizon. When Manny, Sid, and Diego realize that the miles of liquefying ice overlooking their valley will soon turn from a gentle trickle to a violent force of nature capable of destroying anything and everything unfortunate enough to be in its path, they quickly set out to spread the word and get their endangered friends out of harm's way.

When I saw the movie Ice Age: The Meltdown, I thought that it was a cute movie for kids. The parts that I liked were the opening of the movie and that they have different kinds of animals in the movie with funny senses of humor. The one thing that I did not like was that the animals acted dumb. There were some parts of the movie that were from another movie, like the part where the fish was getting beaten up by Scrat this scene was borrowed from Kung-Fu Hussle.
I liked almost the whole movie. I especially liked it when the squirrel falls in the cold water. Also, I like the little possum brothers. I like the tiger because he is scared of the water. What I don’t like about the movie is the ending in the forest. Everything turns into ice again. It’s a shame. That’s why I don’t like the ending.
My husband and I weren't particullary fond of the movie. We like the first one better. but our 2 kids really liked it.
I was really looking forward to this film, because I loved the original so much. I was very let down by this second movie. I laughed about three times during the entire thing. Even John Leguizamo's role as Sid was not enough to save this one. The plot was flimsy, the "bad guys" felt forced and there was just very little to like about this movie. Save your money.
my father says he buy ice age 2 the meltdown in the eid
This movie is the best for little kids.
A lot of the movie is about Manny trying to convince another mammoth to mate with him. I don't think that's really a good plot for a kids' movie. My kids didn't really get it "thankfully". We LOVED Ice Age, but Meltdown was a let down.
Ice Age 2 The Meltdown Ice Age is good but their could have more Scrat Scenes and maybe more Movie Trailers. Their were a lot of references Like Space Jam. There are many different “random” jokes like: “Sometimes I Throw Up”. Ray Romano returns (Everybody Loves Raymond, Welcome to Mooseport). The Slurry-Voiced sloth returns along with Diego with 3 new characters Ellie (Queen Latifah) and 2 troublemaking opossums.
While it was a cute movie overall for adults (who like cartoons, anyway), I was sad to see them talk about mating so blatantly in what is supposed to be a kid's movie. I don't understand what the issue of sex is doing in a child's cartoon. I would certainly be cautious about letting your young children view this movie.
The kids really enjoyed this. At first, "Ice Age: The Meltdown" looks like the inevitable sequel to the famous 20th Century Fox animated blockbuster, trying to cash in the success of the previous movie but that wasn't the case. This new adventure of the prehistoric mammals manages to stay on its own legs and delivers nothing but great fun becoming a worthy sequel. That alone is an achievement in its own right. "The Meltdown" continues with the style of its predecessor both in humor and animation, so those who fell in love with the original will love the sequel too. The difference however, is in the fact that now Manny is our main character. We get to know more about this character apparently anti-social and cynic, but who in the inside feels very lonely after the loss of his family. Sid and Diego make good sidekicks in this adventure and while their roles in the film are somewhat diminished, they still are very well-developed characters. Scrat, the nut-obsessed squirrel is back too in his constant quest for his lost nut, giving slapstick humor of the finest type in every scene he is in. It is always hard for sequels to live up to the expectations, specially in family-oriented animation films, but director Carlos Saldanha and his team manage to make a funny movie that never gets boring or tiresome (something vital as it is a movie mainly oriented for kids). While probably the story is not exactly original or complicated writers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow make up for it with good character development and funny one-liners that fit the movie tone very good. Two new characters, the young possums Crash (Sean William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck) are a welcomed addition to the family, as well as Ellie (Queen Latifah), the lost mammoth. Ellie, Manny and their relationship is a very important subplot in the movie, and one that was perfectly handled by the director and his crew. While Diego's subplot was also interesting and served as basis for very good jokes, it didn't had enough screen-time a shame in my opinion, but overall the movie was very good. The only problem I had with it was the language and innuendos. Yes, the PG rating warned of that, however it is a cartoon and maybe we need to let the movie producers know that we don't have to have foul language and sexual innuendos to make a movie good. To summarize, fans of the first "Ice Age" won't be disappointed by "The Meltdown", and it also breaks the "sequel's curse" this film is entertaining on its own right.
I loved every single second of it.The ice age was melting and every one was running to the ship now go out and buy it now!!!!!!!!!
Ice Age 2 was a good and funny animated movie for children and adults alike. The language (such as "damn," "shut up," and "retard") and Manny's references to sex (as in his wanting to repopulate the Mammoth population with Ellie), however, might cause children to wonder what he means by this. This might also cause parents to feel the need to explain sex to their children before they're ready. Besides this, the movie is worth seeing and owning. The characters are great, the voice actors are good, and the side-comments are funny.
This was just as funny as the first one. A great movie for the whole family. Some of the comedy is subtle and for the adults...it's hilarious.
I enjoyed the meltdown. The movie was good. Scrat is back trying to find his nut. Manny, Diego, and Sid are back as well. As Manny tries to forget the past, Diego tries to over come his fear of water, and Sid nearly burns to death in hot ash as a sacrifice. Manny meets Ellie, a confused wooly mammoth, who thinks she's a possum. There are two stories in the movie: one was the main story the second was the the story of scrat the squirell. The only thing that I didn't like was when the story flip-flopped. But what got me the most was Scrat's story.
