This two-pack presents a pair of films originally designed for, and seen in, IMAX theaters. First on the bill is the 1998 Everest, from directors Stephen Judson, Greg MacGillivray and David Breashers. Shot during the harrowing 1996 storm on Mt. Everest that claimed eight lives, the documentary follows the filmmakers as they attempt to rescue surviving members of the beleaguered party. In the process, Judson and co. must endure such hazards as monstrous cliffs, thin mountain air, and sub-freezing temperatures. Liam Neeson narrates. Next up is Stephen Low's 1992 Titanica. Made a half-decade before James Cameron's box office blockbuster Titanic, this documentary travels out to the North Atlantic where the infamous vessel, once deemed "unsinkable," capsized. Cameras travel down to the wreckage itself, for firsthand glimpses that Low contrasts with vintage photographs of the vessel's original opulence, while reflections of two survivors, Eva Hart and Frank Goldsmith, lend a special poignancy to the tale. Leonard Nimoy narrates.
