This movie is a real masterpiece. The casting is so perfect for the story!. Gary Oldman is one of the most talented actors I have ever seen. He completely takes Beethoven's soul and show it to the audience. The movie gives an interesting solution to who the immortal beloved that Beethoven mentioned in some letters was. I have read several reviews about this movie and people in general love it. I think it was very underated. I have to mention one review, it was written by journalist Steve Rhodes. I think Mr. Rhodes should write about cooking or any other thing but movies. He has given a very light review about Oldman's performance and in general about the movie. Rhodes is the kind of person that would have enjoyed seeing Leonardo di Caprio as Beethoven. There are some Beethoven scholars who have tried to denigrate the movie because of the director's view of the immortal beloved. People like that just show close and frozen minds. The movie is giving an interpretation to that mystery. The music is of course, beautiful. Many emotional moments, beautiful environments, wonderful casting (Jeroen Krabbe, Isabella Rosellini). The movie didn't get any award, SO WHAT!!!, people love it!. Bernard Rose, a genius mind, is the director and also the writter. I would say that he composed the movie in a musical way more that direct it. Summary: 1. the movie is a beautiful and emotional expirience. 2. the music of the maestro linked to his life is amazing! 3. the casting is perfect 4. If you read Steve Rhodes reviews, don't believe what you read at once, his reviews are very light.

I just watched this movie - and remembered how much I enjoy movies of this kind. The way the music followed the story was so beautiful - and helped to convey the emotion of the characters better than the spoken word. If you enjoy biographical movies of classical composers, don't miss this one!

Gary Olman is simply magnificeint in his role. Again he becomes the character not just play the part. He is hauntingly macabre as well as the music. It is tragic yet hopeful. Truly one of the greatest films ever.

The way the storie devolopes is very good, the writer made a good job in puting together pieces of his life to make the movie. They way Gary Olman plays Ludwin is great! He was able to get in the character, which made it a successfull film.

The story about a letter written by Beethoven to a secret admiree, if true is a very touching event in his life. Gary Oldman plays the composer with great sincerity.

This movie is an interesting insight on Beethoven's life and his attempt to achieve a lasting romantic relationship. The gradual loss of his hearing is portrayed as well as his determination to compose despite its loss. It's a wonderful movie with a marvelous soundtrack. It is a terrific gift for friends and family.

This is a plausible story about the relationship between Beethoven and the one true love of his life. Who is she and what was her secret? Only Beethoven knew and he didn't kiss and tell. It's a great movie - part biography, part mystery, part love story, part fantasy. Gary Oldman gives a tremendous tour-de-force performance as Beethoven - worth watching for that reason alone.

This movie is the most moving movie I have seen in a long time. The music is wonderful, the acting magnificent, the story is heartbreaking. I have watched it again and again and I have cried ever time. Amazing, simply amazing.

Gary Oldman played his role to its maximum... you cannot watch this film and not love Betthoven's music... It makes u realize what it means to be deaf and compose such a great music as ''Ode To Joy'' i really enjoyed this film...

I enjoy every word and music of this film. I have watched it at least 10 times. Wonderful yet sad love story that you will remeber forever. Beautful actresses and unforgettable actor.

This movie was one of the best I've ever seen. The music is awesome, and Gary Oldman is superb! It's such a tragic, but beautiful love story. However, if you don't appreciate classical music, or you have a short attention span, you probably won't be able to fully enjoy this movie.
