If this movie doesn't help you understand the true meaning of forgiveness, you are out of touch with your very soul. I was so moved by this and everyone I know, that has seen this film, felt the same way.

I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this movie. I agree with many of the reviewers that it seemed sex was the central point of the first part of the movie. I absolutely love Toni Collette so I knew I'd be getting a great performance out of her. I'm not a big Diaz fan but she was tolerable in this movie -- even though her character was absolutely disgusting. It was a relatable movie about two sisters and how different they are but how much they need each other as well. It was a touching movie -- I did feel it got a bit too much between them. However, there was a lot more reality in the movie than I initially thought. Good movie.

How this film ever made it into the comedy genre must be quite a stretch of the imagination. I found it not only depressing but even disturbing. The relationship between the two sisters is almost pathologically masochistic, love-hate-envy-resentment to the extreme. Not even the magic of Shirley McLaine could save this horrible plot. These are someone shoes that definetely are too tight for me. If you like disfunctional relationships, then you will enjoy this movie.

The first half of this movie is very slow moving, and is filled with a lot of unnecessary references to sex. However, I'm glad I didn't turn it off, because it really picks up in the last hour. Shirley McClaine is great as Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz's long-lost grandmother. I enjoyed Toni Collette's role, but I'm not a big Cameron Diaz fan. The last half of this movie is what saved it for me.

The first 10 mins. do have a few sex scenes but the movie considerably cools down after that. IMHO, this movie should've gotten an "R" rating. It was a great movie. I did not expect to like it at all but I ended up loving it. I even bought the DVD when I sent back the rental. The movie shows the tremendous character growth of both sisters. Maggie (played by Cameron Diaz) becomes more responsible and Rose (played by Toni Collette) becomes more free and fun. Despite the rift that comes between them, their separation helps them become more confident and appreciate each other more. This movie will make you laugh, think, and cry. I was surprised by Cameron Diaz's performance. I was used to seeing her in roles such as "Charlie's Angels" but she is also great in serious roles. This role shows that she is more dynamic than she lets on.

This is a wonderful film about the intricacies of human relationships. Toni Colette is perfect as the slightly condascending older sister and Cameron Diaz sparkles as the vulnerable younger sister trying to find her footing. This is a movie women can relate to and enjoy many times over. I highly recommend this movie to women of all ages!

I thought this movie was very raunchy. There was probably 5 sex scenes in the first 10 minutes of the movie. This is not something that should be encouraged.
