    Great film, bad DVD

The Remorseful Day is a well-written, well-performed, fitting end to this wonderful series. I watched all the episodes in order, which made this all the more poignant, and well worth it. HOWEVER, my one caution is about the DVD itself. On this site, under DVD menu, it notes the DVD includes "The Last Morse", which is a making-of documentary. However, when the DVD is played, the documentary is nowhere to be found; yet the DVD lists the running time as 153 minutes, and the episode itself is the usual 100 minutes. The manufacturer needs to fix this problem.

    Thank You, Colin Dexter.

The entire episode is tinged with the sadness that 'Morse' is having to face his own inevitable death and does so with extraordinary dignity. His last words are for the one person who was more than just a colleague: a friend, a son. The ending of the episode was the most touching and heartbreaking moment I have watched in a dramatization in a long time. I was so overcome with the beauty and eloquence of it. The combination of 'Morse' and 'Lewis' will go down in history as one of the finest collaborations due to the fine acting talents of the late John Thaw and Kevin Whately. Thank you, Colin Dexter, for creating an incredible, brilliant mind such as...Morse.
